The media could not be loaded. Soild grow system. This was my first time trying DWC & so far plants are doing great. Air pump is strong & the seals are holding tight. No issues at all with the units & the plants so far. Assembling the system was super easy once I figured out how everything went together. The instructions are a bit hard to read. I came online here and found a short video but I like to follow a step by step instructions sheet and there is no documentation at all! Nothing. Pieces look nice quality. But I may return this as I am new to DWC, this is my first kit and I really need instructions to use.

The media could not be loaded. Took awhile to get due to holidays but arrived intact before Christmas. Typical DWC , well built, air pump decent , drip rings good ( shut off after seeing roots emerge from net pot). Level indicator helpful. Currently two weeks into legal grow in Alaska . Instructions could be better , my kit did not come with ph or tds meters as described in purchase. ... show more

2024-01-02 Update. I am still waiting for the replacement "sealing ring" from the company. It has been close to 2 months and they have not bothered sending it. It is only about a 10 cent part so it might cost $1 to send it to me. I find this pretty poor customer service which does not say much for their customer service claims. Original Evaluation I obtained this system because I wanted to try to grow a tomato and pepper plant inside my house. The system came with the parts as shown and a simple 1 page instruction sheet. The instructions were close to worthless because as you can see, the print is so faint I could not identify the parts on the sheet. I finally resorted to looking back on the offering page and looked through several videos before I found one that showed how to put the system together. It would have been nice to have had more instructions on how to use this system, what kind of fertilizer to use, appropriate lighting, etc. but none of this is provided. Even with the video, there is very little in the way of explanation other than to follow the video as close as you can. Of note there is no information on which way to put the check valves and for some people who are unfamiliar with these devices they had a 50/50 chance of getting it wrong. I ended up blowing into the valve and was able to identify which way the valve needed to be placed. However, you still need to understand how the device is working in order to correctly place it. You want the air to flow out of the pump into the 5 gallon container. Two hoses go to each container, one blowing air into the aerating stone and one going to the tube that uses the air to push water up to the irrigating ring. Installing it as instructed on the video, I shoved the black tubing into the sealing ring. This was quite difficult because of friction. I got one successfully through and then with the second one, the sealing ring ripped apart. I had tried saliva to help lubricate the tubing but then used vegetable oil and that made it much easier. However, there was no indication or instructions on applying any lubricant. I finally was able to find a customer service email after looking online and on the instruction sheet. I found it on the last page of the instructions and sent them an email asking for a replacement sealing ring. I am waiting to hear from them and will repost if they send the replacement promptly. I will also upgrade my rating if I have a favorable response. I show a 3rd "part" that was not identified. I suspect this may be some packing ring? After an hour of research and work, I was able to successfully assemble one of the buckets. Filled with water and attached to the air pump, the system worked as intended. The pump pushed a good stream of air through the air stone and also kept a steady pulsating stream through the irrigation ring. The pump is quite efficient, only registering 2 watts of usage on low and 6 watts on high. The irrigation system seemed to work fine on low with 1 bucket so energy usage is quite negligible. The pump does emit a steady humming noise which is minimal on low but fairly noticeable on high. The bucket has a level gauge with a bead that rises with the water level to make it easy to refill the system. I think the system will work fine with appropriate plant lights and hope the seller will respond quickly with the needed replacement parts. Hopefully, they can provide much better written instructions for installation and also more information on appropriate fertilizers and lighting with useful scheduling instructions. ... show more

Mars Hydro never disappoints! The kit includes almost everything you need to setup a 2 pot DWC hydroponics growing environment. Setup was straightforward (but I did leverage a setup video found online). This is my first time growing with DWC Hydroponics, so I don't have a lot of compare this kit to -but it has been great for me personally.
