I’ve had this for about a year. It’s awesome. I’ve had huge success with basil, dill and snapdragon flowers, and moderate success with parsley. (Mint and chives have been abject failures though.) The basil and dill grow really fast - sometimes too fast and I don’t know what to do with them lol. I love it. It’s amazing to have fresh basil and dill affordably and on demand! I’ve even taken to eating basil like salad because we have so much of it. It’s also very easy to use. The instructions are totally clear. Refilling water can be slightly awkward especially when the plants are very small and the lights are too low, but it’s fine with a funnel or a kettle. Also, extra fertilizer and sponges for plants (what the seeds go in) are super easy to source. Seems like they’re standardized across home hydroponics systems and I’ve reordered on Amazon. My only complaint is that it can be hard to clean. There are little baskets that the plants grow in, and I haven’t figured out how to get them clean by hand efficiently. It’s also very hard to clean while the plants are alive because the roots get wrapped around each other and the parts inside. It takes a good amount of time to disentangle them without ripping them to death. The internal components are hard to get 100% clean but not bad to get mostly clean. It would also be better if the timer to start the light on off cycle could be set in the middle of the cycle rather than only being able to start the 16 hours of light. I wake up around 7 AM so I can sync it with the daylight. Inconvenient but only when there’s eg a power outage.

We purchased 4 of these following over a year of successful use of an Aerogarden. We wanted a cheaper machine with more pods that used identical sponges as our aerogarden which are widely manufactured and distributed, so easy to get and often sold in bulk. This model fit the bill. It's only downsides compared to our more expensive aerogarden is that 1. we have to start them at 1 am the first time if we want them to go on from 1 am to 6 pm and not have the lights on in the evening (when we use the room the occupy). You can't schedule them ahead. 2. we have to track the water and nutrient levels ourselves. That said, given the massive price difference between units that's not much of a hassle, especially since we check the levels every other week anyway. Every X amount of days (depending on what we are growing) we refill the water and add nutrients at the same time. The higher number of pods mean that we need to add nutrients at the same frequency as water. So we have each timeline scheduled in our shared calendar (Machine A and B, every 2 weeks, Machine C and D every 3 weeks) and boom, it's done. I quite frankly prefer it to having to visually check up on the screen of my aerogarden or installing a dedicated app. 3. The finish and branding of these machines is a bit lacking. Since we wanted utility, that's not an issue for us, but for someone for whom this machine will be on display, it's a bit minimalist. Eventually, we decided to purchase 4 more machines and now own a total of 8 of these units. All of them are set up on a wire shelf and occupy two 24X48 shelves with a bit of room between them. Very compact machines (and packaging). We keep the whole setup under a wire shelf zip cover to create a greenhouse effect and minimize the inconvenience of the lights. We thus have 96 pods across 8 systems. In theory, we could accommodate another 4 machines on a third shelf and max out at a staggering 144 pods (this in what was the footprint of our former aeroponic tower which could support 32 plants). For now, we will likely keep at 8 machines as the extra storage room on the other shelf is convenient for keeping everything tidy, and we've yet to do a full harvest cycle involving all 8 machines, so we first want to see how these perform before further expansion. Our goal is to self-produce most of the vegetables we eat on a daily basis. Although it's more of a hassle to manage 8 machines than a single pump and water tank, it's not much more of a hassle (basically fill up 8 smaller tanks vs 1 big one). Additionally, the pod capacity of this rig makes it very much worth it. The sound levels are also MUCH more reasonable and make these machines perfectly fine to cohabitate in a normal living space (our former aeroponic tower made an infernal racket on the level of a washing machine that dominated the soundscape of our house). I strongly recommend these machines. The trap for most of these hydroponic garden rigs are that they require you resupply on proprietary consumables in most cases: sponges and nutrients. In addition, of course to seeds and water which are easier to get. This machine is therefor incredibly convenient, since you can use the cheapest type of sponges on the market, it will support any kind of generic hydroponic nutrients you can find and you don't require any kind of special apps or seeds.

I highly recommend this product! I gave it to my daughter for Christmas and she loves it! Grows the plants perfectly, it is larger than I expected.....perhaps if you need a large garden purchase two of these, you will not regret!

I've been DIY-ing experiments with hydroponics for about a year now, with fairly good success. Mostly DYI because the Aerogardens are so pricey. But I wanted something more elegant for the kitchen, and found this affordable in comparison, and decided to give it a try. It has some pluses and minuses. In the downside, it would have been much better if the light were about an inch larger in both directions. The seedlings struggled and stretched towards the light for about the first 10 days. So make sure you rotate them away from their stretch until they're tall enough. Once you're able to lift the light higher, they seem to do fine. Also they're pretty tightly spaced. If you're going to use all 12 holes, plan for small footprint plants... more like baby greens than heads of lettuce. On the upside, it's attractive, the pump is pretty quiet, even soothing, and the light seems sufficiently bright. Also, the cheapo generic baskets advertised as Aerogarden compatible, while not perfect fit, work fine, as do the plugs, so subsequent plantings will be affordable. Similarly, if you're a newbie, you could watch Aerogarden videos and it would all work fine. I haven't tried the enclosed nutrients, because I have leftover Aerogarden nutrients. The attached photos are this evening, 3 weeks in, and I just did the first major harvest (second photo, minus about 8 arugula leaves) and root trim. Pictured are Arugula, dill, garden cress, watercress, and cilantro.

My preteen granddaughter is a vegetarian who syringes with eating more green vegetables. This grower has changed everything! Mom says it's so easy to plant and grow green things. I have one too, so we have grow races & exchange recipes. It helps connect us, even though we are far away. It fits nicely on the counter under the cabinets. It's easy to keep filled & clean.

As you can see in my photo, I've had an AG system for a while. I bought this one because there was a lot more pods, and they were spaced wider apart than the AG system. I was extremely happy to see it has a pump system that brings water to each pod separately, much like the AG does. I would never buy one without this type of system, because if the roots are not developed, the seedlings will die if the water gets low. I also have a big problem with the AG in that the light doesn't extend very high, so I'm always having to trim my tomatoes down which shocks them. This MUFGA system has a high light reach, which will keep my tomatoes growing without snipping them! It also has holes for supports or labels, whichever you wish. The only downfall on this brand is that it doesn't have a timer so you can set specific times to start the garden. However, I have a smart plug that I programmed to automatically turn on at my specified time. I just need to make sure the garden is powered on, then turn it off at the plug. But even with this small negative, the garden itself is above and beyond the AG because of the light extension and better pod spacing! MUFGA, if you ever make a programmable one, I will be the first to buy! Otherwise, keep them cheaper so more people can get into hydroponics. :-) Otherwise, I would also like to see a unit that you can shut the light off but the pump continues to run its cycle. However, I loved my new unit so much that I bought another one, transferred my tomatoes to the MUFGA unit, and now I have 24 pods where I'm growing several tomatoes, several types of lettuce, strawberries and mini peppers. I will use the AG still for shorter plants, but I'm starting flower seeds in it now. I just have both MUFGA units set up to smart plugs just in case the power gets shut off and I need to restart the cycle. Otherwise, as long as the electric stays on, it will begin its 16-hr cycle whenever you turn it on. During it's normal cycle, when it goes into 8-hr lights off, the pump continues to run its cycle. I highly recommend this MUFGA hydroponic garden over the more expensive brands that do not have single cup watering capability. I've looked for similar brands that supply water to each cup, and as far as I can see, AG and MUFGA are the only ones that do this. So, I highly recommend THIS unit! Great plant spacing, great light height, water supplies to each pod, and two settings for flowers or vegetables. You can also turn the unit off, or run the pump manually when it's in sleep mode.

Update 1 day after the original review: I am dropping my rating down to 1 star and returning the unit. The automatic light time doesn’t work. The lights are supposed to stay on for 16 hours and off for 8. The lights on this unit do NOT turn off. I had to get up at 1 am to turn them off. As well as not functioning properly, that doesn’t seem safe to me. Also, the water has stopped flowing through the channels in the grow deck again and is not reaching the outer plant pods. Since I have several plant seed pods already in the unit, I’m at a loss of what to do with them since I am returning this. I can’t just toss that many sponges and seeds and will be very upset too waste that many pods due to a bad machine. I guess I will have to buy a different brand garden and hope it arrives quickly so I can get this returned. I’m in Alaska and we don’t have the quick Amazon delivery here. I’m hugely dissatisfied with this unit. Good luck if you buy one, it’s a roll of the dice if it will work correctly or not. And without any actual customer service from the company, at least Amazon will accept the return. I have several Aerogardens but their prices just keep going up, so I decided to try this Mufga after watching a review on YouTube. The Mufga has channels in the grow deck that waters the plant pods from the grow deck rather than just from the sponge soaking the water from below, just like an AeroGarden does. This was the selling point for me. Which is great - if it works. Problem #1 was that the water wasn’t being channeled to the grow holes. The water splashing in the unit seemed very loud, so looked inside the pod holes and only saw water splashing around under the holes just in the center near the pump. I somehow didn’t get the grow deck channel nozzle down into the white silicone sleeve that connects the growdeck channel to the pump, so water was shooting out of the silicone sleeve. I disassembled it and as you can see in the photos, there was no water actually inside the channel. When reassembling, I noticed that the bottom part of the channel doesn’t really feel like it securely attached to the grow deck, but I sniffed them together as best I could. Next I carefully, without really being able to see anything””, placed the deck on the unit, trying to make sure the channel nozzle was inside the silicone sleeve that is attached to the pump. I was able to do it. In the video, you can see the water is now flowing through the channel and flowing out at each pod hole, as it’s supposed to do. The water stream is weaker at some holes than others because the channel isn’t as securely attached there as it is in other spots, and there is still some splashing down around the pump, but at this point the water is flowing so I’m not going to bother with the extra splashing. Problem #2 is that the hole at the back and to the right of the light post is unusable because of the electrical wire to the pump. It blocks the plant pod from sitting flatly in the hole, and the plant roots will absolutely entangle in that wire as they grow. That is not a good thing at all. It’s sad because that spot has some of the best lighting. See photo with the red arrow pointing to the wire. Which brings me to problem #3: The lights. I have this sitting next to an AeroGarden Sprout, which is only 10 watts. The lights in the Mufga seem to be less powerful/bright than the lights in the Sprout even though it’s advertised as more than twice as bright at 24 watts. This was really surprising to me and is a huge concern. Also, the lighting seems noticeable weaker around the outer pod holes than in the center. I think they could have been more consistent in the light coverage. Problem #3. I didn’t get the stickers it advertises that come with the unit. Missing items. Now for the pros: While trying to fix the channels in the grow deck, I turned on the unit without the deck in place. The pump is very strong - strong enough to shoot the water out of the unit. The con with that is it squirted it right into where the lights attach to the unit. I was concerned about mixing water and electricity at that point, and ruining the lights. So be aware of the pump power. Only time will tell if this unit will last and how well the lights will work. I can’t actually recommend it yet. At this point, I will keep looking for higher end units when they are on sale. If I get a bountiful harvest from this unit, I may change my mind about it and will give and update.

First, a little context: I have been growing in indoor smallscale hydroponics since shortly after AeroGardens first hit the market, well over ten years now. I run a small blog that is primarily help articles for beginner to mid level hydro gardeners, as well as a FB group for more advanced folks/experimentation. I've tried out a lot of units over the years. So, it means something when I say I am *impressed* with these units! One of my 'random off-brand brand' units broke (not surprising, it's been having issues ever since I got it) so I bought this one to save my petunia seedlings. I just received it today, but like I said... I'm impressed. It corrected all of the issues I've had with other less expensive units in the past. The pump circulates the water up and to each individual pod, which aerates the water much better than 'just a bubbler'. In 'possibly even better than AG', it's just small channels that carry the water to the pods, rather than the entire deck being a clamshell that's almost impossible to get apart yet requires careful cleaning. It's equivalent tank size/number of pods to an AeroGarden Farm (12 pods and holds 2 gallons), though somewhere between a Basic and a Plus in height (17.5" max height vs 12" and 24" respectively). Another 'may actually do better than AG' point, the light goes *all* the way down. Like, rest it closer to the pods than the top of the plastic domes kind of all the way. (Lights not going low enough is a common complaint, because the light too far away can cause the seedlings to get leggy early on, which is somewhat detrimental with such a short max growing height.) The light *is* weaker than comparable AGs, that said, only 24w (vs 30, 40, or 50w depending on AG model), but that's about the only edge AGs have over it in any meaningful way, I think.... and that's not worth the price difference. The AGs have much fancier electronic components, but if you don't need those - or if you already have one to keep your schedules straight for you - definitely not worth the price differential. It's definitely worth considering for 'some extra space' instead of forking over several times as much, as long as it doesn't self destruct in a few weeks or something - which it doesn't seem likely to do, unlike some of the other 'knockoffs' I've had (like the one this one just replaced XD ) And yet the price is among the lowest of all the units on the market. If it holds up well, and the price stays low, I will be hard pressed not to pick up more of them in future!
