These tires grip extremely well. As someone who has used Reapers (also a very good tire). The Marastar tires work very well in the mud and sheds the mud from the tires quickly. For that, I give the Marastars the nod over the Reapers. I use my riding mower on a very hilly farm and is also used for trail maintenance. Which means pulling heavy trailers up hills under slippery conditions. Traction under these conditions is amazing. I've even been able to cross a small creek on our property. With turf tires, I would instantly get stuck in this creek. The 4 ply holds up well to the thorns and briers. A chevron pattern in the middle and turf tread on the ends makes for a great all around tire. The only time the tire leaves an impression in the grass is if its very wet. The only thing I wish was you could get the wheels in implement gray. I painted my wheels to match the mower, because yellow on orange would be absolutely hideous. Painting was easy. Just deflate the tire, remove the stem, prep, mask and paint. Wait a couple of days and assemble. ... show more

Good Traction on Inclines I am happy with this purchase. The tread design offers a noticeable improvement when mowing on an incline. My old rear tires tended to slip on slopes, but these grip the turf securely and handle the hills without spinning or sliding. Convenient Setup Having the tires arrive pre-mounted on the wheel assemblies saves the hassle of fighting with tire spoons or taking them to a local tire shop. They swapped right onto the axles with no real alignment issues. Proven Long-Term Durability I bought these because my other Marastar front tires are currently going on 8 years of use and are still holding up great. Based on how long those fronts have lasted, as long as they didn't change the composition of the rubber...I expect these rear wheels to handle regular lawn work for a long time. Final Verdict This is a straightforward, reliable replacement kit from a brand that lasts. If you have slopes in your yard and want a steady, long-term wheel swap, these do a solid job.     • Great tires with great grip!
Could not be happier with the order. There is a deep ditch that I need to cut as far down as I can. When I would cut that area I had to hold on to the fender to keep from sliding off the seat. At the same time my rear tire on the upper side of the ditch would just spin a not connect with the ground unless I rocked the mower. The tire did not give me the traction I needed. With these Matastar 20808 tires on the rear of the mower I have no spin and can actually cut deeper in to the ditch. I am marvel every time I cut knowing these tires grip so well. ... show more

I have some drainage ditches on two boundaries of our residential property. The standard turf tires on my mower will not always climb out of the ditch easily, especially when the ground is wet from the summer rainy season. I needed something with more aggressive tread. I was searching for bar tread that is commonly used on farm tractors when I found these tires ready-mounted on wheels that match my OEM wheels. I am very happy with how the tires perform. In the photo, you can see tracks cut by the tires but those are on the weedy surface of the undeveloped lot adjacent us. In the healthy turf on my side of the property line, the tires simply dig in and climb, without scarring the surface at all. Regardless of what these tires do to the ground surface, I do not get stuck in this ditch. Occasionally I have had to pull my mower out of this ditch with a come-along-winch when I got stuck with standard turf tires. Installation of the wheels/tires was pretty simple. My mower is almost new so the old wheels slid right off after the retainers were removed. I have taken wheels off of old fixer-upper mowers that was quite a chore though. Over time, rust might have seized the wheel to the axle on an old mower. I suggest applying a thin coat anti-seize compound to the axle when reassembling. In event that you want to switch back to your old wheels someday, or you need to repair a tire, this will ensure that it comes off easily the next time. When you get your new wheels and tires installed, you may need to readjust your deck level and height. The wheels were the same size as my OEM wheels but the deep treaded tires are a bit taller and wider on the outside measurement. (See photo of the OEM tire and the new tire side by side.) How to instructions, for adjusting your mower deck, are available on YouTube or from your local mower dealer. I encourage buying the tires already mounted on wheels. Having said that, these are priced so high from some Amazon sellers that I would not buy them ready-mounted. I received a pretty good sale price on this set. I have changed out tires on riding mowers before. I will only say that it is not a job for anybody without access to professional tire changing tools except maybe for a pretty resourceful DIYer. ... show more

    • Well built and useful on inclines and prevents slippage on wet grass.
Works great on my D125 Deere mower and fit perfect. I wish there were instructions on how to put them on but I got it figured out. I like the flat wide tire so it does not slip on the grass when I am going uphill. It allows the tire to get more grip. These tires are thick tread and well built.

    • Big improvement over “tread saver” tires - high quality at a great price!
The perfect tractor tires for slippery or hilly lawns! My old 22” tires on my John Deere LA130 were dry, cracked and leaking. Stumbled on these tires in a JD forum and decided to give them a try - glad I did! Despite being 20” tires, when fully inflated (as they come in the box) they are actually closer to 21”, which is close enough for me. And despite being fully inflated (30 psi), they are a HUGE improvement for traction on my mossy lawn with several steep inclines. The center tread lugs really make a difference and despite looking very aggressive they don’t tear up the lawn. Installation is straightforward - once you get the old wheels off. I got lucky - my old wheels came off without much effort, but be prepared to struggle a bit on most tractors that have never had the wheels pulling off before. There are several good videos on YouTube demonstrating methods to remove old wheels that are rusted on the shafts. All in all these are fantastic - I’m surprised that nobody has offered a tread pattern like this before. And the price is very reasonable - cheaper than what JD charges for a single tire alone. ... show more

I use them on my husqavarna YTH18542 (2017-06) 42" mower to replace the oem ones. I've had these for two seasons and so far and they work great with excellent traction. They were easy to replace my old ones and were a perfect fit. The only thing I'd be cautious of is to make sure you install them on the correct sides as there is a left one and a right one. ... show more
