Because the pitch and yaw pivot points are not centered below the camera, using a tripod collar on a video tripod head like a HDV701 (where you can balance the weight of the camera by moving it front to back) will still give you a smoother and easier experience than this.

Update to previous review This tripod head gets the job done. It is stable and works well. It does however, have a few issues you need to be aware of. First, the quick release ppate will wear at the camp point and will cause it be unsteady. So, you will need to purchase another one to solve this issue. Secondly, the caps at the end of the retractable arms can loosen and fall off and the springs may fall out. Lastly, the leveling liquid in my tripod head turnedvfrom the usual green to a clear liquid, it does still work though. ... show more
