Description

Makita is expanding the line of cordless outdoor power equipment, and the system includes the 36V (18V X2) LXT® 21” Lawn Mower Kit (XML10CT1). With zero emissions, lower noise and reduced maintenance, the Mower is a welcome solution for efficient grass cutting. It has an efficient 36V brushless motor powered by two 18V LXT batteries, and the battery bay will hold four LXT batteries for extended run time (up to 40 minutes of run time on a single charge using four LXT 4.0Ah batteries). The Makita-built motor delivers up to 3,000 RPM. The mower offers ease-of-use features including quick height adjustments, a 2 bushel capacity grass collector, and folding handles for compact storage. For added versatility it has a 3-in-1 design that allows for mulching, bagging or rear discharge. The Lawn Mower features Makita Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™). XPT™ is a protective seal inside the tool, and is engineered for improved operation in harsh conditions by channeling water and dust from key internal components. It also features IPX4 weather-resistant construction for durability and long life. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V LXT system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium- ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

  • Working fantastic after 1 year of use!
Great mower, lasts a lot longer than expected, very light for a mower, and ZERO issues. I live in the South and have to mow my grass every weekend for 7 months out of the year. The 21" makita mower makes it as painless as possible. Slap in 2 batteries and start cutting in 3 seconds. Good things worth noting: -There's a multitude of safety features including multiple deadman switches to make sure the motor does not turn unintentionally. - 2 Batteries will just about finish front yard and backyard for me. - Powerful. I have had some thick (even still wet) patches of grass that it was able to handle in a pass or two. Bad things worth noting: - Blade is on the skinnier side so hitting a large stick or tree stump will bend it out of shape. Replacement blades are hard to find and took months to come in. - If you have a large lawn you will need more batteries. ... show more

  • Easy
This mower was easy to set up and run. It does a good job. The only problem is that four batteries are not enough to mow the back yard. This takes two batteries at a time to run, however having a backup pair was not enough, had to buy two more to keep the mower running long enough to get the job done. ... show more

  • Problems finding serial #
Spring 2024 has a rebate that requires a serial number. It is very hard to find. Behind one of the batteries there is a rectangle labeled serial # but it is blank. Called support, and found out it's on the box in small print, not on the mower. Just mowed a small area but will need to wait for actual grass before review of mower performance. It's a big mower that is not easy to turn, probably better suited for a big open area rather than fitting around raised beds or tight places. Seems well built but we'll see. ... show more

  • Great mower
The mower is well built, powerful and easy to maneuver. Battery life is OK with 4 batteries.

  • Does the job.
I always have to wait to mow because our property can get a little swampy in places until it dries out in May so the grass gets long and the first mow is tricky. We waited until our gas powered gave up last year and bought the Makita for the next stage of equipment. It works great. I use a lawn tractor for the main parts and a push mower for the edges, etc. This Makita choked a few times because the grass was so thick but it was easy to clear it out and kept chugging along. I didn't even run out the second set of batteries to complete what I wanted to do today. I highly recommend this mower and am glad we made the investment. Our electric company is giving us a $50 rebate and Makita is giving us a leaf blower for the purchase so the package is very affordable. ... show more

  • Decent Entry Level Residential Push Mower
The media could not be loaded. I have mowed with everything from mechanical reel mowers, zero turns, ride-ons, sickle bars, scythes, brush cutters, gas push mowers, etc. You get the idea.... This is my first battery operated mower of any kind. I've had this mower since the early spring of the 2024. I chose makita because that is the battery platform I use already. The price was right such that the 4 batteries were worth the price of the batteries, dual charger and mower combined, so the mower and charger were effectively free. I have about a 8000sqft to mow. For me to have a similar experience to a gas powered push model, I opted to buy two additional makita brand 6ah batteries, and the 4 slot charging station. Total cost set me back around $700 including this mower. I can mow my property on setting 2 in 3 battery set swaps without waiting or bagging as long as I mow roughly twice a week. I do not like the rear discharge as it would collect in the left rear wheel and on the rubber skirt. However, the rubber skirt tore off after the second use, I'm not worried about the rear discharge as much now. The blade can handle sticks and rocks but it is on the smaller side. I do not recommend mulching, bogs it down too much. I like how it folds up and can be stood upright for storage without disassembly. The attached photos are from after I went on vacation for 2 weeks. I live in western Maryland. My lawn isn't perfect at all, so some patches were dense, over a foot high, or a combination of the two. Some areas were lighter. It took 6 battery set swaps, a good amount of finesse, and about 2 ninety minute sessions with time in-between to let all 6 batteries charge back up again. All of it was bagged. This mower has good torque for about the first ten minutes after a swap and starts to fall noticeably afterwards. I was averaging about 25 minutes between battery swaps, but I was swapping based on the sound of the mower without load, not the mower stalling out (batteries were at 1 or 2 bars when I would swap). In more ideal conditions I get closer to 35 minutes between swaps. Would I buy it again? No, it doesn't have the power for a long enough time to justify a direct replacement. If you already have makita as your battery platform, your property is on the smaller side, and you're meticulous about grass (ie: you don't mind cutting twice a week), this will get the job done. I would not attempt to use this in a commercial application. This is more of a good deal to get some good batteries honestly. Otherwise, there are better options out there with other brands ... show more
