  • Great like the the other 10k worth of Makita i own
Style: Bare Tool
Nice fit and finish, really nice unit with the paddle trigger. I have this dedicated to a grinding wheel to use on metal and another to use as a cut off wheel. Really speeds up welding projects

  • It has a place in my grinder lineup
Style: Kit
Just received this yesterday, was in the middle of a build so I was able to put it into use as a soon as I got a battery charged (about 45 mins). I was working on a medium sized sofa table base (6' long, 33" high, 13" wide) - I needed to finish grind about 30 welds on 1.5" square tubing (combination of fillet and butt welds, using 40 and 120 grit flap discs), then I needed to run a wire cup over the entire frame and do a couple of touch ups with a 120 grit flap disc. I made it through 21 of 30 welds before I had to switch out the battery. I was able to finish the remaining welds and run the wire cup over 90% of the frame before the second battery ran out. I had about 5 minutes remaining to finish charging the first battery (assuming the same 45 minutes it took to charge it the first time), so rather than taking a break I broke out a corded grinder and finished the job. The charge did finish at about 45 minutes again. Here's my impressions: It's light - even though you're holding the battery, it felt lighter than dragging around a cord. It's maneuverable - even though it's longer than a corded model, it's easier to move. Not having the cord made a huge difference. The power actually surprised me - it won't compete with my 13 amp Metabo grinder, but that's not what I got it for. I was looking for a light, maneuverable, easy to use grinder that can handle the 75% of the stuff I do during a build that doesn't need my heavy Metabo. After one build, I'd say this fits the bill. I'm impressed so far. If my view changes, I'll update this post. ... show more

  • It's a Makita. 'Nuff said.
Style: Bare Tool
I picked this tool up when I thought I'd lost my old Makita grinder (which I found as soon as this one arrived. Of course!) I'm really happy with this one. This one has a blade brake and seems a bit more powerful than my old one (which now lives in my shop instead of my daily carry tool bag.) It goes through batteries pretty quickly, but that's to be expected with a tool this powerful. I also like the paddle switch on this one rather than the slide switch on my old grinder. I'm very happy with it. ... show more

  • Makita XAG11z cordless REGULAR arbor angle grinder Awesome !
Style: Bare Tool
Outstanding another winner by Makita my life long friend. I didn’t want the nee xLock arbor because I have lots of regular arbor carving discs I don’t want to replace. This fits all my discs flappers and carving wheels. Very cool safety features and safe paddle triggers. Powerful tool. I’m quite happy. ... show more

  • Works great
Style: Bare Tool
Been wanting one for awhile. Since all my cordless tools are Makita. I have used this for grinding, cutting and sanding and have never had any problems. Works better than expected.

  • Advance design and safety.
Style: Bare Tool
What an advancement in technology and much needed safety! A disk guard is not enough. I retired the old plugin Makita after it attacked me. The tool bucked while cutting through a sheet metal beam. In a split second and without warning the tool violently ejected out my work piece, rotated, and ricocheted like a gyroscope then after hitting the ground she devoured the electrical cord finally turning off. Then the pain hit literally feeling like a sledge hammer. I looked at my left hand in horror and saw dangling bits. That's right, DANGLING! It wasn't till I got to the hospital that I noticed my leg hurt and my jeans were shredded on the thigh. So not only did it sever 2 tendons, cut and fracture bone, and grind cartilage it also did a peel out down my leg. A top notch hand surgeon saved my fingers and a year later back to 99%. Consider me lucky. As for this new grinder, I would let my kids use it under supervision, I'm that confident in its safety and controlability. The momentary switch releases instantly when letting go and the motor self brakes to a stop a second later. The chip set controls the rpm before, during, and after a cut or grind. Just make sure to remove the battery when swapping disks. Stay safe people. ... show more

  • Expensive. Worth it.
Style: Bare Tool
My last makita grinder lasted 7 years. I used it to cut metal shelving brackets, rebar, trim off nails embedded in foundation from forms. You name it, the sparks did fly! Until it fried. Upgraded to this one as I never liked the switch on top. This one is much easier to use!

  • Feels solid and runs smoothly
Style: Bare Tool
My first (so far only) job for this thing was cutting some galvanized pipe. Half of the cuts were at more than a 45-degree angle. I'm a novice with an angle grinder (but not with power tools) and it was pretty easy to control. I did lug a vice out to where the job was, and it was worth it for the stability. I tried the very thin cutting disk which came with the tool and a slightly thicker one. Both cut well and didn't wear down noticeably after a dozen cuts each. I'd actually choose the thin disk because it moves less metal and thus should extend battery life. Speaking of battery life, I ran down two batteries on that little project, but they were _old_ 3 amp-hour batteries. New ones are probably much better. As with other Makita tools, this feels like a good purchase that will last a long time. ... show more
