With Makita 12V max CXT Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries, users get superior balance and ergonomics over pod-style batteries. For added convenience the batteries include an on-board L.E.D. charge level indicator. The PH05R1 weighs only 2.4 lbs. (with 2.0Ah battery) and delivers 280 in.lbs. of Max Torque. It's an ideal solution for users seeking a more compact driver-drill with less weight and for applications in tight spaces. For longer run time, 12V max CXT cordless tools are also compatible with the 12V max CXT Lithium-Ion 4.0Ah battery (BL1041B). 12V max CXT Lithium-Ion batteries are engineered with a Battery Protection Circuit that protects against overloading, over-discharging and over-heating. It's part of the expanding 12V max CXT series, combining performance with superior ergonomics in a compact size.

This is a beautiful tool. It comes with the case and charger and 2 batteries. It drilled holes through concrete walls and solved all my problems ! It’s also an awesome regular drill and a very precision driver. I should have bought one 20 years ago. I’ve used it 5-6 times for 30 mins weeks apart, and haven’t had to charge the batteries yet. I own several of the Makita 12V max CXT tools (Impact driver, drill driver, recep. saw, circular saw, jig saw), and now this. I really love these tools for my home owner/DYI needs, and this tool is no exception. I've only used it for one project so far, that required drilling 8 - 1/4" holes about 1.5 inches deep into concrete. This drill handled the task well. This drill is light weight and versatile as it can be used as a driver, drill or hammer drill, and like all Makita tools, the build quality and ergonomics are excellent. Why only 4 stars? Well, it's expensive! At the time of this review you can get a Makita 18V brushless hammer driver/drill ( XPH12Z) for much less than this 12V, and you get a lot more for your money; 1/2" chuck vs. 3/8", 530 in.lbs of torque vs. 280 in.lbs, you get the idea. That said, the 12V is almost half the weight of the 18V (2.4 lbs vs 4 lbs). If you're looking for a cordless hammer drill, and have not already invested into the 12V line, I'd recommend the 18V XPH12Z over this 12V, due to the cost : performance ratio. If you want a light weight tool, for light duty tasks, or have already invested into the 12V line (like I have) then this is a good option. If it was about $20 cheaper I'd consider it a 5 star tool. ... show more
