  • Very Quiet
The media could not be loaded. Very nice compressor. The other reviewers wrote that this thing was quiet. They were right. My wife said that it is cute. I never had a cute compressor before. I bought the Hromee 1/4 in x 25 ft Polyurethane Recoil Air Hose to go with it. Perfect combination.

  • Amazingly Quiet Compact Compressor
I've owned 3 air compressors in my life. My last one was an oilless 4 HP, 20-Gal Craftsman (circa 1994), it was so loud, I didn't dare use it with the garage door open because it would definitely disturb the neighborhood. I couldn't start it up in my garage even with the door shut until my family was up and about in the morning. This weekend I decided enough is enough, I did my research a purchased the quietest air compressor in my price range. I will be 65 years old in a few months and it takes a lot to impress me. You know my type, been there, done that, owned that, got the tee shirt for that. I must tell you folks, I am super impressed by this little compact compressor, quiet, light weight and powerful. It's actually quieter than my garage fridge. I brought my Decibel Meter home from work and held it approximately 2 feet away from it while it was running on my tool bench, it measured 57.7db. I ran my 1/4" die grinder for approximately 45 seconds at full speed with no issues. Next, I tried my air chisel, then my 3/8" ratchet. Same result, no issues, I have yet to run in bigger tools lie a 1/2" drive impact wrench. I have owned Makita tools over the years, and I have always found them to be high quality and reliable, I am pleased to see the still maintain their high standards for quality. I am very happy with my purchase thus far and am excited to see what all it is capable of. ... show more

  • This thing is quiet
I love how quiet it runs and quick recovery. It handles trim gun verywell. It is a bit heavier than I would like but it is compact and a handle located to distribute the weight.

  • Just awesome!
This unit was recently purchased to replace my Porter Cable pancake compressor and it it is dramatically better in every way. This thing is super quiet, charges fast, compact and easy to move around. Yes, it is about $100 more expensive than the cheaper pancake models, but SO worth the extra money. Very well made. ... show more

  • Loved the low noise, don't love just over a year of very light use it no longer works--REVISED
Very portable and light. (lighter than the competition's pancake models) Love the low noise levels. Don't love that I purchased just over a year ago (October 2021), and now in December 2022, it stopped working. Makes it worse that I have used less than a dozen times. Disappointed as I have had loud heavy ones for 20 years that still work. --REVISION-- Seems this compressor just does not work in very cold weather. Despite being in my insulated garage, wouldn't work with the temp outside at in the teens. Once the weather warmed up some it started working again. ... show more

  • It's pretty quiet.
I don't know what the specific range is for the spec Makita used for noise measurement. My ipad says 80db at <12", 70db at a meter or so, and 60db at about 5 meters (16'). Or in more useful terms, it's quieter than most people talking. I can't hear it over the radio in the shop. It's awesome. As far as performance: it's 1 hp motor and a 2 gallon tank. It's rated for 2 cfm at 90 PSI, 3 cfm at 40 psi. Plenty to drive a nail gun, intermittent air brush, etc. If you need that much air continuously, it's going to run continuously. Figure out how much CFM you need, divide that by the rating, that will give you some idea of the duty cycle. Yes, it'll probably run continuously if you're filling tires, but on the bright side, you'll still be able to listen to the radio. ... show more

  • Quiet and effective
I was really excited to try this product because of its promise of being quiet. My only concern was whether its capacity would be so low that I couldn't use it effectively. I'm happy to say it exceeds my expectations. I have used it with a brad nailer, an air gun, and a tire inflator. It worked well for all of these. It is indeed quiet. Yes, it kicks in reasonably often but if you are a hobbyist woodworker, this won't be a problem. It's not heavy but it's not light either. Portable, yes. But you'll use your muscles to carry it around. Definitely recommended. ... show more
