  • Better Faster
I was planning on carving the maple seat for a stool with Kutzall carving discs- however, my grinder had a paddle switch and was too heavy for fine work. This Makita grinder is just over 3 pounds and has a convenient slide switch. It has all the power needed for using the carving wheels. And as all of the Makita tools it is a quality built product. ... show more

  • Takes a beating and keeps on grinding.
I used this grinder for two solid months, grinding away spalling concrete from rebar, using a Makita diamond blade, and it worked great. The dust was horrendous - like a Sahara sandstorm, and every so often I would clean the dust from the tool with an air compressor. I like this product much better than the old Black and Decker grinder I had been using (it broke down from the effort). It had a paddle switch that I didn't like because it was too easy to depress accidentally. The Makita's switch pushes up, then slightly downward and it is not prone to "accidental start-ups." It might accidentally flip to the off position a little easier, but I would much rather live with that. I have also had occasion to use Makita's tech support - I found them to be helpful and flexible. ... show more

  • Darn good smaller grinder
I own 6 grinders and use at least one of them every day. This little baby joined my stable of other Makita angle grinders because I was looking for a lighter-weight grinder to use one-handed in bevelling edges on the EDC tools we build. My biggest 4.5 inch Makita is an incredible work horse but it's just too big and heavy for one-handed finesse work. (Insert tasteless joke here!) This is a great grinder. If you have smaller hands or don't do a lot of grinder I could see using this as your main tool. If you do a lot of grinding you will appreciate the Makita quality, solid build and narrow profile. Oh and like all Makita's it doesn't have a stupid paddle switch. ... show more

  • Makita GA4530X 4-1/2-Inch Angle Grinder with Grinding Wheels
I needed a new 4 1/2 angle grinder for my Heirloom Quality Custom Woodwork, my older one (it still works very good) was a Makita, I found this one and from the reviews- knew it would perform as well as my other Makita. Now I don't have to stop my production to switch from chainsaw cutting wheels to flap disks, if I save time I can save my clientele $ and that brings more business, quality is my main objective, in tooling and my Artwork- Thanks Amazon and all those who take the time to review the products we buy, good or bad- if you enjoy what you do, it's not work - it's stress relief ... show more

  • Great small grinder!
Love these little grinders. Small barrel diameter means you can hold them pretty secure in one hand when you need to use the other to brace yourself or help hold the part being ground on. I've got about a 1/2 dozen of these around my shop, handy and durable. Burnt up a couple over the years, but at $50 I have no problem buying more for how useful they are and their lifespan. ... show more
