I bought this while I was working night traveling around making asphalt for the interstates in Tn. Now I'm an avid coffee drinker and the later the hour the more I drink, so I was pretty upset when I showed up to the plant and there wasn't a coffee maker for use or available to purchase due to the late hour. So I looked this up and snagged one not expecting perfection but atleast warm bean water. I was greatly surprised on how well it brewed and the amount of cups I was able to make off one battery. It does take a bit of time to heat and brew but i didnt think it was overly long. I was hoping it used k cups just for travel convenience but it doesn't. Nice picnic companion. Just need to have a spare battery or two charged to last more than 3 cups of tea or coffee. It also fits other less expensive stainless steel mugs of the same size.

First impression is the fact that pricing is too expensive, especially the batteries needed to get this brewing going. Battery drains fast, It takes a 5 amp to make you about 2 cups of coffee (which is normally enough for most ppl). I like to use the Baronet coffee roaster pods , as it comes in different flavors and has a rich smell and taste. Or you can simply use it to make hot water and use your own instant coffee, sugar and creamer. I’m a coffee drinker and I have no issues spending this amount on a maker I will use almost on a daily. Being a carpenter, it’s very rare we will have a microwave or coffee maker, or even a working outlet around the area at all times, so having this little thing can change your life and come with you wherever you go. Being a makita person, I already have a significant amount of batteries and chargers so draining one on a cup or two, I have no complaints. Definitely recommend to anyone, especially the ones out in the field . ... show more

I purchased this on a gift card for $150 a week later it was $20 less. Brews at approximately 93 centigrade. I had to fiddle around with ratios and grind before achieving the desired outcome. I found the grind needs to be somewhat more course than a pour over; on a Comandante this is about a 35 clicks (from fine to course). Using the pour over grind was too dense and resulted in water overflowing the basket. I used 240ml of water (max) to 15 grams coffee (15:16). It came out well- much better than Starbucks and from the convenience of not having to rush back and forth to work during breaks for mediocre, over priced coffee. I easily can spend $150/month going out for coffee and whatever treat that happens to look like a nice match at the time, so I expect this will be a great alternative for someone who enjoys specialty coffee with minimal effort, especially while traveling. The only reservation I would have might be not having 5ah batteries handy- fortunately I use Makita for my home landscaping and power tools. Otherwise, I would be far more hesitant. ... show more

I've been using this coffee maker almost every day for over a year now. I know it's stupid to abuse the batteries like that, but I love this coffee maker. I can get 2 or 3 cups from 5.0Ah battery. It works great with senseo coffee pods also. I highly recommend this product for any Makita fan.
