  • Great product
Style: Polisher-Sander Tool
I ordered this and got it the next day! I had to polished a pontoon boat and this worked great! Keeps good rpm even when applying pressure. Would definitely recommend this polisher to someone who is doing aluminum polishing.

  • High Quality, Made in U.S.A., Professional Tool
Style: Polisher-Sander Kit
The Made-in-USA Makita 9237C polisher (included in this kit) may be the best 7" polisher on the market, especially for the heavy work and long run times when compounding and polishing gelcoat on fiberglass boats. It's everything that made the Makita 9227C a pro favorite plus: * Rubberized Gear Housing - very "grippy" rubber on the head. * Rubberized Loop Handle - same "grippy" rubber that`s found on the head. * Wire Mesh Intake Covers - to prevent wool fibers from entering and damaging the motor. * Improved cord guard - for increased flexibility and longer life Rugged, no-nonsense construction designed for to hold up to daily use by boatyard and autobody professionals. Very flexible, 8'+ rubber power cord. Powerful 10A motor. Thumbwheel to select maximum speed between 600 and 3,200 rpm when trigger fully engaged; includes a handy chart on the top of the tool showing relationship between dial number and RPM. Rock-solid speed control keeps the speed constant whether you're bearing down with heavy rubbing compound or lightly skimming the surface with polish. Extremely soft start minimizes slinging of compounds and polishes. The included loop and side handles can be installed "lefty or righty," allowing for ambidextrous operation and a handle selection to suit your technique, materials, and working conditions. When compounding and polishing my 23' boat, I preferred the loop handle, generally holding it in my left hand, shifting between top and side of the handle depending on tool orientation, working angle, and torque effect. But there were some tight areas between the bow rail and the cuddy cabin where the loop handle would not fit. So I quickly changed over to the side handle and I was back in business. Spend the extra money to get the full 9237CX3 kit with the case to protect and organize your polisher and accessories. It's well worth it. It's biggest competition is the Dewalt DWP849X. Unlike the Makita 9237C, Dewalt DWP849X is not advertised for sanding. While the Dewalt has a 12A motor, if you're straining the 10A motor in the Makita, you are probably doing something very wrong. Another key difference is highlighted on the labels: The Dewalt's label says "Made in China" while the Makita's label says "Assembled in U.S.A." ... show more

  • EXCELLENT
Style: Polisher-Sander Kit
Like most, I've been in denial about purchasing this item. Over the years, I've bought 5 (?) or more "equivalent" ones that just didn't hold up. Overheating, broken handles, etc...Granted, I still have my Milwaukee "dinosaur" but that's just become too heavy in my upper years. This thing is simply, AWESOME!!! ... show more

  • A bit heavy, but pretty much best non commercial on market
Style: Polisher-Sander Kit
my back and neck hurt from holding this sucker up. Does the job well, tons of power, but is a bit of a workout. The fake wool pad is pretty much junk, it threw off furballs like it was cotton. Go buy better quality pads and save some pain.

  • Stop the search here and now, Makita is the best quality and value!
Style: Polisher-Sander Kit
Makita is the ONLY choice for the professional. I have used this buffer, and its predecessor the 9227, for 8 years in the automobile detailing industry. I run my buffers an average of 5-8 hours every day. I have worked them so hard that the outer plastic casing has been nearly melted and tacky to the touch. I doubt there is an industry that could possibly use them more than mine. I have used the DeWalt 849, and there is no comparison between the two. The DeWalt has a very touchy speed control, and lacks torque when pushed hard or under a heavy load. The Makita will keep going no matter what. I have Makitas that I have used all day, every day for more than four years and they keep going. The only parts I have ever replaced are brushes and the power cords (the power cords get a lot of abuse in my business, being drug around on pavement all day). I have never had a failure of any kind with the drive gears, switches or speed controls. Don't waste your time with another brand. With Makita you will find that the speed control is precise, regardless of pressure applied (these machines have a TON of torque). The soft start is predictable and gentle on the drive system. The new rubber armor around the head helps prevent dings and scratches on the surface your are buffing, and the screens for the motor vents keep wool and debris from entering the motor housing. If there were a way to give it ten stars, I would. Tim Wilda ... show more

  • Solid buffer
Style: Polisher-Sander Kit
Good buffer with RPM control, not too heavy. Does a way better job than my orbital buffer for my boat.
