  • Works with the XTR01 cordless router!
Style: Base
This plunge base works perfectly with the Makita cordless router (XTR01) and with the corded palm router(RT0701). The base is sturdy and is full featured with a great selection of controls. Everything is easy to use and well placed for convenient access while in use. The side handles are soft, ergonomic and very comfortable to hold. The locking lever that will allow it to plunge downward and then lock the base in the fully plunged position, during a cut, is designed to be activated with your left thumb. It’s position can be slightly awkward to reach with your left thumb in certain positions but it’s the trade off of having such a compact base. I find that the side of my thumb will contact the body when trying to reach the locking lever but it’s usually only when I’m working on a table more than 30” high. It isn’t a very big problem but I do notice that it feels like part of the body is a little bit in the way of the lever operation but that is only once in a while. The plunge action is pretty smooth and has a light resistance but there’s enough to give a solid precision feel during plunge. The main depth stop has a quick release button that will allow quick depth adjustments and when the button is released and the stop is captured in place it has the ability to be further adjusted more precisely by turning it left or right. It has very fine threads so turning it for precise adjustment is easy and it is able to achieve very fine and precise depth adjustments. The contact point that the depth stop hits has 3 levels for quick changing pre-set stops. It easily rotates and securely stops and stays put in each of it’s 3 different positions until it needs to be moved again. There are 3 different selections of adjustable contact points which can be adjusted with a Phillips #2 driver. I find it most convenient to leave all of them at the factory settings and simply use the depth stop to fine tune my depth levels. Overall, this is a very nice plunge base and is great for professional use. The available dust collection adapter ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AFZEKBA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) is a welcome addition to this set up, as well. I found it for a great price on Amazon and it mounts to this plunge base easily and makes the plunge base even better for a mobile shop tool. I’m very impressed with this plunge base and would recommend it to anyone investing in a small makita router. I hope this review is helpful. ... show more

Style: Base
I purchased this for the cordless 18V router. It works great and will quickly become the only hand held router you will use. Very stable and balanced. Plunge action is very smooth and locks securely. I like having the 3 separate depth stops. Very handy for having to do multiple passes to achieve your depth of cut. There is a button on the depth adjustment to quickly change depth and the threaded rod makes micro adjustments easy. Router fits very securely and is easy to get in and out for bit changes. If you purchase this base for your router, you will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Great addition!
Style: Base
Great addition to my router. Had to overpay for it and have it shipped from The UK because its discontinued. Not sure why Makita discontinued this quality product but it’s awesome!! The plunge is nice and smooth And I love having three depth stops.

Surprised the plunge fixture didn't come with the insert for offset inserts. I went back to the packaging to make sure I hadn't overlooked it among the cardboard inserts. Now I have research how to get one. Pain in the neck.

  • it worked fine for me
Style: Base
I had to pound out a little post which I assume slides down some kind of trough or channel (which my router does not have), but once I did that, it worked fine for me.

  • Great accessory
Style: Base
Love this thing. It has greatly increased the versatility of my little makita router. My only regret is buying the router and this base separately as it cost me about $50 extra in the end. Anyone looking at plunge routers and dreading dropping the money, I highly recommend this makita set up.

  • Great addition to the Makita handheld router
Style: Base
This attachment is awesome, It has a larger opening on the base than the one with the handheld router which allows for the use of larger router bits. The plunge cut adds a lot more possibilities in crafting wood. this basically turns your Makita handheld router into a full plunge router.

  • You will be glad you bought this accessory
Style: Base
This has converted my Makita hand-held router from a hard-to-control and hard-to-see-the-workpiece tool to a wonderful tool to freehand rout. I should have bought the router/plunge base combination to begin with, but didn't realize it would be such a help. This plunge base removes a big variable when freehand routing. ... show more
