Features

  • Extend the life of your hot water heater by replacing your Magnesium anode every few years.
  • SACRIFICIAL ROD attracts bacteria from water, rather than allowing it to attack the tank itself.
  • INSTALLS IN TIGHT SPACES - Most water heaters don't have 4 Ft of overhead clearance to install a new solid rod without completely removing the whole heater. Our flexible rod allows in place installation with just over a 12" of clearance.
  • SAVE MONEY by changing the water heater anode rod, not the whole water heater.
  • UNIVERSAL FIT: Compatible with most hot water heaters including AO Smith, Rheem, Kenmore, GE, Reliance, Richmond, State and more

  • Flexible Anodes Really Work
In the above photo, I removed the previous flexible anode that I purchased here 6 years ago. As you can see, it is completed corroded away, but the stainless steel wire was still intact. I carefully removed the old one and replaced it with this current version. Six years was too long to wait, so going forward (if my tank survives) I will be replacing the flexible anode every 3 to 4 years. If you are doing this for the first time, you'll need the hex anode socket and possibly some T-2 Teflon pipe dope (the debate goes on if Teflon tape will prevent a dielectric connection to the tank). Removing the factory installed anode is very challenging. What I needed to do was use a 5 inch power grinding wheel and two hefty vice grips to lift up, clamp, saw, and then remove section. This had to be done five times before the old anode was out. After changing the anode, be sure to run the valve near the bottom of the heater fully open until your water looks clear. ... show more

  • Seemingly good quality Anode - we shall see
This one seemed like a good value, and the cable connector construction was better than another I looked at. Installation was easy. I assume the wire cable is continuous through all the pcs, and I assume it is Stainless. Bend the cables to straighten it out as much as possible before install, and use a good amount of teflon tape ... show more

  • Easy replacement, perfect fit.
Didn't know if this would fit our GE hybrid water heater(its 11 years old) but asked an online question and came back with two plumbers saying it would fit. It did. Thanks

  • Only lasted seven months
This magnesium anode replaced the previous anode (aluminum zinc) that lasted about 20 years. After seven months with this anode there was considerable sulfur smell in the hot water and had to purge the tank with chlorine every few weeks to reduce the smell. The well water is quite hard with lots of iron, so it has a water softener to remove the iron. After removing this anode, found that it was very pitted and reduced to almost nothing near the top. Now, I realize that I should have installed an aluminum zinc anode. Using this magnesium anode was a waste of money and time for a system that has hard well water. ... show more

  • Anode rod
Good quality and easy to install. Removed old rod, measured length and cut new rod to fit. You can install the complete rod but the end will be laying on the bottom of the tank - I think the rod is supposed to be suspended to work effectively. No water smell after install.

  • Anode is easy to install in tight space!
I purchased this anode for my 9 year old water heater. Getting the old anode old was tricky since it was 17" to the ceiling. With the segmented design, installing this new anode was easy. I would use this design again.

  • Works as promised
This is the second one of these I installed on this water heater. Plus one straight one before that. On an electric water heater I installed 12/20/2007. So 13 years and counting...

  • Replace anode before 2 year warranty is up. It is almost gone by 24th month.
I couldn't find an alternate so I am using another one of these. I installed one in January 2021. I checked it in January 2023 because it has a 2 year warranty. It was almost completely dissolved and just a rusty wire. My water tank was not getting the protection. I replaced it and will replace the 2nd one in 18 months this time. ... show more
