I’ve only had this for a couple days. I’m very pleased with the distance the light shines and the brightness. I can’t yet speak to battery life. I’ll be eager to see how that goes. Very good light so far!

The brightness is great, but i used energizer batteries and they didnt last quite as long as advertised. As the batteries die, you lose the brighter intensity settings one by one. When its just about dead itll blink on and off just due to discharge and recovery cycles. I like that once you select from 3 brightness settings, your next click becomes off. Good feature. Im happy with it, but ghe ml300 i got for my woman seems just as good and its cheaper. The handle texture is pretty nice and the od green is cool. ... show more

I bought this as a replacement for a 40 year old Maglite that was destroyed by leaking batteries. My old light still worked like the day it was new until the leaking batteries destroyed it. This new one is even better. I can throw a beam into the next county. There are also multiple light levels that prolong battery life and don't blind you with reflected light if you are using it to light a trail at night. I like the D cells because you have much longer usable light. So many otherwise bright lights are dead after 2 hours of use. The only things that I would change on this light would be to 1. make the head hexagonal so that the light doesn't roll. (you can buy a plastic hexagonal fitting for the head that will do this) 2. I would scallop the bezel so that you can see if the light is on if you stand it on its' head. 3. I would like a hole of some sort in the tail cap (like the mini-mags) so one could attach a lanyard if desired. ... show more

The power button functions nice. Good battery life and light pattern is adjustable. Fits perfect in the d cell mag lite holder. The green has a great color. Simple reliable maglite.

Holy cow is this thing bright! In retrospect, I should have just gotten the 2-cell D Flashlight as it would have been more than enough for my needs but the price difference was negligible. However, I had an old maglite I converted to LED a few years ago and it finally gave up on me (the batteries actually got stuck inside and nothing worked getting them out). So the newer versions are still alien to me, but I absolutely love the three optional brightness settings. I typically just use the lowest setting. The reason I opted for this one over the 2-cell version was primarily longer battery life on the high setting. Depending on your desires for use, you can't go wrong with either. ... show more
