It’s a good mixer for the price and even has phantom power.

    • Mackie isn't what they used to be.
Bought this mixer Feb 2017. About 15 months go by and the effects send starts sending nothing but loud noise to the main mix. I called but the answer is it's out of 1 year warranty range and nothing can be done other than pluggingin an external effects processor. Not even 2 years went by. I also have a Behringer mixer that is 6 years old and works perfectly. Perhaps it was just an unlucky circumstances but their lack of service to stand behind their product is sad. I purchased this Mackie mixer Mix12FX to use as a sub mixer for my main Behringer mixer. I’m using them for my drum kit and wanted 3 more XLR inputs so I thought that the Mackie Mix12FX would be perfect for a sub mixer. The phantom power is noisy and when you turn off the phantom power it makes a loud hissing or an arcing noise. It’s almost as if the phantom power voltage was way too high but to my surprise I measured the DC voltage on the XLR female jack and it actually read 49 VDC which is acceptable. I even changed condenser mic’s and XLR cables and the phantom power is still noisy. The problem is not on my end but with the mixer. When turning off the phantom power it should take a few seconds for the phantom power to completely dissipate but it cuts off instantly, which is a defective design from the manufacture and perhaps an internal filter problem causing the noise. In order to get around this phantom noise problem I removed my condenser mic’s and plugged in a couple of dynamic tom mic’s in their place and put the condenser mic’s on my Behringer so I don’t use the phantom power on the Mackie at all and the standard dynamic mic’s sound decent on the Mackie. If you have condenser mic’s the phantom power is useless on this Mackie Mix12FX due to the phantom power noise. No power on/off switch you literally have to unplug the AC adapter to cut the mixer off. ... show more
