This is great for isolating great professional mics like Neumann TLM103 or my Apogee 96k. But using this on a mic where you speak into the end, like an RE20 or Heil PR40, maneuvering the clam shell to work effectively with a long mic was a huge challenge ... so I returned what would have been stellar with the right mic.

Pretty nice. I don't understand why they put that metal piece right in the middle with no soundproofing over it. But the soundproofing itself is really nice and thick. Quality is great for the price and you will notice the difference. Not too hard to install depending on your setup. And you can adjust it closer and up and down

You may have seen the original $300 version of this in music stores. This one is a copy of the expensive original product. As others have stated there are no assembly instructions in the box (deduct one star from rating). I was able to assemble and mount this without instructions in about 15 minutes, the quality of the components seems excellent and heavy duty, the parts are easy to adjust for different microphones and shock mounts. The plating and construction seem to be equal to the best of these products I've seen. HOW DOES IT WORK? In a word, GREAT! I recently moved and I am in the midst of building a new recording studio in Florida. In the meantime I'm using my bathroom as a vocal booth, it's tiled and has a very short slap echo. I hang a couple of beach towels over the shower curtain rod to provide more soft surfaces. I also hang some towels around the room for damping. I'm using a vintage AKG 414 microphone on a shock mount with this Acoustic Isolation gadget. The difference this Acoustic Isolator makes is extraordinary and for the price it's amazing, provided you are a handy person and can figure out how to assemble it. Good music to everyone!
