Even after bypassing the ballast, it wasn’t bright enough AND was flickering. However, the flickering was due to the dimmer switch. I replaced the switch with a standard switch and no more flickering and is much brighter as well. You need to bypassing the ballast and must be in a non dimmer switch. It works great! ... show more

I work at a condo facility where we have dozens of light fixtures that use CFL (compact fluorescents). I ordered the LED replacements hoping they would last longer, but sadly they do not. They are also not as bright as I would expect an LED lamp to be.

Bought these is 2021 and in 2024 still going strong. I used these to replace my CFL bulbs and did a ballast delete. Initially I thought one of the 4 LEDs failed but it turns out it I had one CFL left that I didn't replace and it was the one that failed! If you don't understand electricity or wiring and have a ballast to remove, this is quite different than screwing in a light bulb ... show more

    • Good LED's to replace fluorescent bulbs

We are switching out the fluorescents over to LED's in our older light fixtures in the office. These are a good option if you are comfortable with removing the ballast from the fixture. You can some money going with these bulbs if you that's an option for you. The color is 3000K (warm glow) which is a good color for an office environment. We purchased three - 4 packs for a total of 12 bulbs as a start to the conversion to see how well they worked. Of the 12 bulbs 1 has shorted out over the past 6 months which isn't bad. As more of the fluorescents go out we will be purchasing more of these as their replacements. ... show more

Summary: Ordered these to replace CFL bulbs on my a range hood. Removing the ballast was straight forward, but requires general electrical knowledge. Observations: These are very bright (warm color temperature)! Recommendations: The box has generic installation instructions for SOME ballasts out there. Specifically saying to cut the blue/red, and connect them to the white/black; however, if your ballast has YELLOW wires, that will not work (which is why you need a general understanding of electrical installations). For this case, you'd wire the RED/BLUE together, and then connect the WHITE (or BLACK); then you'd connect the other 120VAC line to the YELLOW. Pros: Fair fit & finish. Cons: Some of the LED chips were not straight, see pics; incomplete wiring instructions (should include both cases for RED/BLUE only, and RED/BLUE/YELLOW ballasts). Conclusion: At $30 for 4 bulbs, rating this 4-stars (quality issues, instructions). ... show more

Just installed on two Hampton Bay wall sconces. Bright white light. People with melting fixtures and flickering lights probably didn't understand that these are NOT "plug 'n play" direct replacement bulbs for the original CFL. You must modify your appliance! This is a serious risk of shock or fire if you don't understand or disregard the warnings. To install the bulb, you must remove a warning label covering the prongs. I don't know how anyone could miss the warning unless they were in a rush and just tore it off. The box also shows how the re-wiring must be done. I've included some pictures showing that I had to cut the ballast out of my sconce lamps because I needed every inch of existing wire. Otherwise my particular lamp would have required splicing additional wire. ... show more
