For me, the roll back covers didn't seem substantial enough, and the hard covers were way too expensive. So, I decided on a Tri-Fold bed cover and like you, headed for the reviews to make my choice. Lund and Extang seemed to have the best reputation. I selected the Lund and to be honest I can't remember the specific reason; it may have been a slightly lower price. Regardless, I am very pleased so far. Here are some details that may be helpful. INSTALLATION: The Lund was shipped in a timely manner and the packaging seemed to protect the cover adequately; there was no damage to mine at all. As many of the online reviews claimed - it truly took only a few minutes to install. The cover pretty much comes fully assembled. You literally just place it on your truck and clamp it down. It may take a moment or two to get the thing centered properly, but that too is easy. My cover came with weather stripping. According to the instructions, some trucks leave a gap at the "bulk head" which is the front railing that runs along the back window. It did not seem that my GMC Sierra needed the stripping which was confirmed after a torrential rain on the highway. (Note: The cover came with four aluminum clamps. I did not need them for my truck, but obviously for some models they are required. I have no idea how they impact the ease of installation.) APPEARANCE: When I was a teen, vinyl tonneau covers were introduced. I thought they looked cool (even though back then you had to rivet snaps into the truck bed). So maybe that is why I still think soft covers look better than the fiberglass hard covers and why I think my Lund looks great. The material seems very thick with heavy duty stitching. Also, assuming you are in the market for one of these covers, you have probably noticed that with most - the corners look like they are "riding up;" not sitting on the bed rails properly - as if the material's tautness was pulling them back. It turns out that the cover is perfectly flat, and that it is the TRUCK rails that are angled downward slightly; giving the illusion of a raised corner. So if the "raised corner" issue is going to bug you, there may not be a solution; possibly making you a candidate for a hard cover. SECURITY: One advantage of a Tri-Fold over a roll back is that a thief can't simply pull back the cover. With a Tri-Fold and a lockable tailgate, the contents are a little more secure because you simply can't open the cover. That may serve as a deterrent for a thief. Admittedly, REAL security can only come from a hard cover. CARE: Not sure on that one although Lund claims that cleaning with soapy water is the only requirement. We'll see. (As memory serves - going back to the teen years again - Armor All on a bed cover looked great, but tended to find its way to the paint after a rain. Trust me - you don't want Armor All on your paint.) ... show more

Lund makes really good products and stands by them with a lifetime warranty. I have their running boards on my truck and the quality of the fit and finish on those put Lund at the top of my list when I started looking for a tri-fold tonneau cover. Lund's tri-fold tonneau cover is easy to install. I had it out of the box and installed on my truck in about 15 minutes. Most of that time was spent getting everything lined up square the first time and making sure the locking mechanisms which secure the frame of the tonneau cover to the rails of the truck were properly tightened. Using the cover is a breeze and the fact that it is easily removable is a huge bonus. With a locking tailgate, it provides a fair level of protection from theft as well. Sure, someone could cut the cover to access what you are carrying in your bed, but as well all too sadly know, if a thief really wants something, they will take it. If nothing else, the cover provides out-of-sight/out-of-mind security. I should also mention that the cover does a great job of keeping the bed dry. I have taken it through car washes and driven through some pretty serious rain storms and have only seen a few drops of water in the bed. With a little bit of time and some foam tape, I am sure I could completely eliminate any water from getting in, but I really don't have a need to. Most of what I am hauling is sports gear, hunting/fishing gear, coolers or luggage, so none of it is going to get ruined by a few drops of water. Bottom line -- I think you would be hard pressed to find a better tonneau cover for the price. I compared just about every model on the market and kept coming back to Lund. What sealed the deal was their lifetime warranty and the stories I have read about their excellent customer service. ... show more

Overall very nice product, the material is nice and seems to hold up very well to all elements i have had it on for 4 months now through rain, snow, ice, direct sun, also went through automatic car wash multiple times and still looks brand new, the only reason i give 4 stars is it does seem to have more a wagon cover look to it with the arc compared to other covers i have seen but hardly noticable. ... show more

We needed a tonneau cover for our annual Christmas trek from Iowa to Ontario, and I did some looking around online and found this cover to be the best price with features I wanted. My young son uses my truck often to haul wood, 4-wheelers, motorcycles, etc and so most important was the ability to quickly remove the cover. And I didn't want snaps, I have memories of my dad struggling with a snap cover years ago. So I purchased this cover for my 2010 GMC Sierra short box. The cover arrived, it took me about 30 minutes to install, and worked beautifully for our 1200 mile round trip this Christmas. We ran through snow, rain, wind, you name it, and the cover worked very well. It is not totally sealed, there was some snow powder under the cover in a few spots, but for our purposes it was perfect. Once installed the first time, you can literally remove the entire cover in less than 1 minute. I highly recommend it.
