I bought three of these shades for the living room, where I have a front-projection TV setup and needed a near-black room. On that count, they work just fine. The backside of the material is the same color as the front. Black would have been better, but on a lot of these roller shades, the backside is white, which is worse if you have any kind of gap for reflected light to pass. They aren't especially fancy and are pretty lightweight, but so long as you don't have children swinging from it, it seems "durable enough" for my needs, especially comparing the price to what you'd pay at the local Blue or Orange store. Others have commented on how the string-and-plastic ball chain which it comes with it kind of flimsy and cheesy-looking. It is both. And also too short. Fortunately, these ball chains come in standard sizes, and it's pretty easy to remove the end cap of the shade and swap out the original chain with a metal one. This specific one requires a 4.5mm bead diameter (chain size #10), and I found a 30 foot roll (enough to do all three shades) including clasps for $19 here on Amazon from a different seller. Specifically: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08D7MDCV2/ I also reversed one of the three, to put the chain on the left side. Again, fairly easy. Just remove the plastic hubs from the inside of the tube that the fabric wraps around (the non-driven hub needed to be pried out with a small pocketknife), swap them around, and re-assemble. All in all, a definite win. I think I'm going to buy a couple more of these for the east-facing bedroom.

Updated review March 12, 2024: I have now had my original shades for 3 years. They are still working amazingly. Great quality! We now have 13 of these roller shades and we love them! We will be purchasing more in the near future as we continue to build onto our home. We can have the lights on inside the house at full brightness, and at night it still looks pitch black. We also notice that some of the rooms that were getting hot from the sun in the summer are no longer getting warm like they were with the shades. I don't even think they marketed these as energy saving, but they certainly are! Original review July 24, 2021: We needed to change from traditional blinds because my four children kept tearing them up. These are great. They were easy to install, they are classic looking. The best part is, they darken our rooms beautifully. I purchased 6 of these, but I will soon purchase more to go behind our bedroom curtains as well because of their darkening capabilities. No one likes blinds lines to show up through their curtains.

I needed to replace three shades for my living room. And I could not get my wife to make up her mind so I decided on these to replace the ones she had been complaining about. After ordering these I wasn't able to get around to getting them installed before the return period was over and when I did get into them I found I was missing some hardware. The seller was amazing and even after the return period they sent me the extra hardware. These are super easy to install and look amazing! All around this has been a great experience! I'll be coming back for more of these as I start to replace blinds in other rooms.
