Total laser novice here, this was my first time to ever try anything with a laser engraver, and it is GREAT. Very impressed with the clear instructions, the packaging of hardware and the very high quality materials. Everything went together perfectly. Note: My machine came with the gantry pre-assembled, but in order to install it onto the large lower frame, I had to remove the lower wheels from the gantry (it has two uppers and one lower wheel per side). The instructions don't mention this, and they don't explain how to use the eccentric bushing on the lower wheel to adjust the wheel pressure, but it all worked out with just a little bit of fiddling with the eccentric. I made some test runs using LaserGRBL, writing the nc files to the included TF card. Perfect. And the TF card comes with full instructions, examples, and recommended settings on it also. I really like being able to keep the PC separate and control the machine from the touchscreen. Combined with the lovely hardware this is a 5-star recommendation for sure. ... show more

Wrong screws included and they did reach out to send replacement, but I already had some that worked. (Just the two screws to assist the thumb screws for laser height adjustment. Not major ones.) There was a hiccup adding end stops. I got it figured out and talked with support. I believe they should be updating the instructions to be clear for other users. For their end stop kit they include an entirely new harness that plugs into the motors and everything. I would prefer just an additional harness for the switches causing less waste. I do suppose some people would like the "form over function" of a single sheathed harness. I'm a function over form person. I bought the 5W. I'm planning on upgrading in the future. Using to remove a layer of paint for custom automotive buttons. Other uses will arise. End stops: If you have the Makerbase MKS LTS V1.1 mainboard and want to add endstops, it took the firmware update and experimenting with sockets on the board to figure out the X switch uses the X socket and the Y switch uses the "Probe" socket because the Y and Z sockets are being used for the accelerometer. You also have to update the machine parameters which can be done by putting a file on the root of an SD card. I did it manually though just because. ... show more

I had my husband put the engraver together for me, and I'm glad I did. The written instructions weren't fantastic, so he used the video aids. He said the guy in the video kept inadvertently covering what he was doing with his hands, which made it hard to see, but he did get it figured out. I had a bit of trouble getting started with engraving because even though I followed the directions for setting it up with LightBurn, the laser head kept trying to move out of bounds, which caused the machine to error out. I found that I had to actually manually position the laser head to my starting point and use the "frame" button in the software to make sure I was staying in bounds. I am not sure how it would work with the computer-less functionality though, and I'm not brave enough to try it. It takes a bit of playing with the settings to get a nice even burn without it being too light or too dark, but once you figure it out, it works really well and I'm really happy with the quality, especially considering this is an entry-level engraver. I very well may decide to upgrade in the future. ... show more

I’m a beginner at using laser engravers. But honestly this was an easy setup and go product. For me the hardest part is learning the Lightburn software. I used the app on the phone and did the MSgt chevron and then Home Sweet Home to test and it worked great i think. However my tf card stopped working. I reached out to the seller and the got back in touch right away. They will be sending a new one out so I can’t complain. Also the max capacity is 16gb for the tf card (micro sd). All in all it’s a great product for the price, and the customer support is excellent. ... show more

Incredibly impressed by this, I debated between the 5W and 10W for a while but I'm glad I went with the 5W as it will accomplish what I need which is to engrave. This was surprisingly easy to setup and it comes with a few pieces of wood to test as well as a preloaded sd card, popped the SD card right in and I was really surprised that it engraved so well without having to do any adjustments, I dabble with 3d printers and vinyl cutters that are usually a headache to get setup and dialed in, so glad this engraver just works. I don't have a laptop so I just exported my files to the provided sd card and it seems like the easier and more reliable way to go. ... show more

    • Resolving Issues
The seller is working with me to fix the issues with the device so it can be used during the day. This has potential but it not as good as I was expecting. They do not provide support for the software which is what is most important. I had many issues getting it to work and when chatting with the seller they would give me different configuration setting in the software to change to make the device work. I asked for a full file of the config settings but they said they did not have info on the settings since they do not support the software. They must have some of this information because they are telling me to change settings to get their product to work. I cannot use this during the day. Even in the shade any sunlight will set off the flame sensor. I then have to reset the machine to be able to use it again and abandon the burn. I have wasted many pieces of nice wood because of this. I am currently waiting on a new flame sensor to be sent. In the meantime, they said to turn the sensor off, place a sticker over it, or turn the threshold down so low it cannot be tripped. I have not been able to work with it as much as I want to since I cannot use it during the day. Hopefully I can do further tests once the replacement sensor arrives. ... show more
