There aren't many reviews on the brown color so I thought I'd address that first. It's not a dark brown or a light brown. We like the color. I think it's kind of a dark gray with a brownish tint but my wife says it's mossy green so I'm not really sure how to describe it. You are probably better off just going off the pictures in the description which seemed accurate. The velvet material is very smooth and soft but not fuzzy. We have a dog and, at least through the first week, the fabric has held up well. Marks show up but are easily smoothed over by rubbing your hand over them. Hard to tell how the velvet will hold up over time but so far so good. The construction seems very sturdy including actual wood for the legs. Each section comes in its own box and it's obvious that they designed it to be shipped economically which is why the legs and back have to be installed but it's very easy. I would pay close attention to the dimensions provided in one of the pictures which are accurate. We really like that our feet can actually touch the ground (I am 5'6") which means the seats aren't very deep. I've seen several complaints about the low back on the seats. They are lower than a normal sofa but not a big deal to us since the back cushions make up most of the height difference. Again, this is why you should really pay close attention to the dimensions provided. The seats are definitely firm which we like and they have softened slightly during the first week of use. The back cushions are very soft and are not attached. They have zippers on the back so I guess you could remove the covers if you needed to. The best parts of this item are the functionality and that you don't have to move a 200lb sofa around since each module weighs about 50 lbs. Also, if one of the modules does get damaged they sell them separately on Amazon so it's easily replaceable (at a cost) rather than having to purchase a whole new sofa. Overall, we are very happy with this modular sofa. Most of the other reviews have mentioned the storage under each seat so I won't go into any detail on that but it is a big plus. This biggest negative, as others have mentioned, is the shipping. Ours was shipped by FedEx and the 8 boxes arrived sporadically over a 4-day period so we had to wait around all day for them to arrive, but we don't really blame the seller for that and the seller was very responsive to the issues we had related to the shipping. ... show more

    • Sucks for sleep. Chair-depth sitting. Modular!! Happy for the price!
Love that it's modular. We tries several areangements figuring out what was best for us and im happy knowing we can change it occasionally as the want/need arises. We also set the end cushion to have walls on 3 sides so we can safely set baby's bassinet or carseat in place, or to hole up with baby for cozy feeding They're pretty firm and high in the middle of each cushion so it sucks to sleep on. Im sure it'll soften up with time, though. I just try to sit on the middle of the cushions so it wears favorably instead of wearing down the already-lower edges of each square. Had a guest compliment it as he prefers a couch where your legs can reach the floor, rather than the superdeep lounging setup most have now. I do find this super conve ient for eating or using a laptop on a tray table! But I prefer lounging/laying back so we set up part of the couch 2 cushions deep for lying down to watch tv. Cushion storage great for blankets, throw pillows, and boardgames. Plenty more could be put in as well! I wish there were two points of contact between each attached segment instead if one, or that they used a footlocking system like some more expensive brands. Having just 1 worries me that one will be pushed slightly out if place and unnecessarily stress the Framework. The fabric does seem to be reasonably water resistant. As we have an infant, I started keeping a full size sheet and another layer of blanket on top of the main 4 cushions we use to protect against excessive leaks. But, I had success spot cleaning with water and a couple paper towels before we started using this method. We also put Fleece pillow cases over the back cushions sometimes to add coziness, seasonal vibes, and also to protect against spitup and I love it! Now that I have it I do kind of wish the cushions were removable so they could be flipped/rotated or covered with cushion protectors but I knew going in that they weren't and like I said we usually keep blankets on top to protect them so it's fine at this price point. We want to add a couple more pieces so we can have a loveseat as well :) ... show more

Update: Customer service contacted me, notifying it was a misunderstanding and they would ship out a replacement pillow free of charge. Please be sure to keep the boxes if you have an issue, as they will need a reference number that appears on the box to clarify any quality issues that may appear. Customer service was very prompt and kind, but I would still admit the couch is a bit short, in depth and height. Original: We were missing one of the cushions and I reached out to customer service, for them to say we will have to pay almost $60 more to replace it. The couch is also on the small side- a little too short on the back to be comfortable and the seats could be deeper. I'm 5'5", so maybe this would be better for someone a bit shorter than me.
