ALL PET WATER BOTTLE WILL LEAK A LITTLE BIT, especially when they are first tipped upside-down! I don’t know why so many people complain about “leaking”, I’ve had every type and brand of water bottle for 20+ years and these work as well as anything else you will find. Do they leak a little? Yes. Will you find a water bottle that never leaks? No! Go ahead and look at the reviews for every single pet water bottle on the internet, people will complain about leaking for every single one of them. Often it’s user error, with people not sealing the lid tightly or not putting on the rubber ring seal correctly, or not following instructions. I have over a dozen of these water bottles and they work wonderfully and do not leak any more than any other water bottle.

Do not buy leak constantly .... waste of money. would not recommend and would not buy again. No matter how you tighten it just drips constantly. Have another brand and they work great but this one is terrible. Wish I could give it Negative Stars

This water bottle is praised for its sturdiness, easy cleaning, and leaking resistance. It is suitable for various animals, including guinea pigs and rabbits. However, some users report occasional leakage issues and difficulty in filling it to the top.I've been using this Lixit Wide Mouth Small Animal Water Bottle (64oz) for a little over 2 months and I can relate to both the good and bad reviews! The bottle is great because of how big it is, I only have to refill it every 5-6 days for a cage with 3 guinea pigs (though I do have other water bottles in the cage, they prefer this one most). And because the mouth is wide, it's not hard to clean either. The not-so-great part is it's quite a process for me to get the bottle to not leak. You have to establish the air vacuum in the nozzle just right in order for the bottle to not continuously leak. And it usually takes me a couple of tries before I can get it right. But when I do finally get it, the bottle doesn't leak! In all the times I've had to refill this bottle, I've only ever established the vacuum the first time once, so it does take a lot of patience to get it right. There are detailed instructions included, but what I do is fill up the bottle to the top (or as close as you can since the opening is at an angle), secure the top tightly, squeeze the bottle so that a bit of water comes out of the nozzle, turn the bottle over (so that the nozzle is pointing down), attach it to the cage, and see if the nozzle is dripping water. If it is, squeeze the bottle (while it's still attached to the cage) a little bit and see if that establishes the vacuum (which you can hear/see when it happens). If that doesn't work, remove the bottle from the cage, turn it over (so the nozzle is at the top), squeeze the bottle so a little water comes out of the nozzle, turn the bottle over again, re-attach the bottle to the cage, and see if it's stopped leaking yet. If not yet, squeeze the bottle a little bit. Repeat these steps until it works! I usually have to do this 3-4 times before I get it right, but the bottle does work and it's worth it to have a big bottle that I don't have to refill every other day (as I do with the 12oz bottles). I do recommend this bottle, but have patience!

I have had these before and I use them for my young chickens. Saves me from having to clean their water constantly because chickens are so messy. They learn very quickly if you squeeze the bottle a little bit to show them the water. The water level is easy to see. I will be buying another one to replace a different brand waterer that broke today. I have two waters this size on a grow out pen with about 14 chicks that are about 2 months old. They are checked twice daily.

My son was begging for a bigger waterer for when we had lots of baby bunnies. He was thrilled with this GIANT! However they immediately started leaking. But then they have since stopped?! I have no idea why...maybe the heat, maybe just being used longer? Anyway, he said he used to have to fill them up every day or multiple times a day. Now the babies are gone so he has them on our male cages and only has to refill them every few days. Nice for when it's hot out and they need a lot more water. We will need to go back to our bowls in the winter but for summer use these are great.

I followed the included instructions, and after a few tries, I was able to create the vacuum seal that prevents the bottle from leaking. If you don’t follow the included instructions, it WILL leak! Take the extra 30 seconds to install it properly and it will work as intended. My rats love it and it takes them days to run out of water.
