  • A must have item in your get home bag or vehicle emergency kit.
Fantastic little stove to toss in your get home bag. I bought a couple of these for my nieces scout bags and they used them on their scouting trip and loved them. They were able to set up and light their little stoves and quickly boil some water for hot chocolate and soup. So, I bought another to throw in my get home bag! I am not sure that I'll ever use it, but I take comfort in having it in my get home bag. ... show more

  • Better than what I expected
There have been numerous reviews on this product and many claim that the Solo Stove alcohol burner does not fit in the stove. This is not true with the Lixada Stove I received. It fits perfectly! There has also been claims that it doesn't assemble easily and that the locking pin is too easily lost. I found it a very common sense item that is very sturdy and affordable. if you secure the pin with stainless steel loop wire before you start cooking, you not only prevent the pin from being lost, you prevent the pin from coming out during cooking. My only "pet peeve" is the square cooking platform is too prone to spilling if the pot being used isn't larger enough to fit with enough space to accommodate smaller based pots! I fixed this by purchasing two stainless steel spikes that can be slid through the circular holes on either side of the top of the cooking platform. Not only do these spikes stabilize the cooking platform and fill the void that could allow smaller based pots from slipping into the heating element, but the steel spikes increase convection and decrease heating times. A simple design that is sturdy and efficient. I like it! ... show more

  • Quality
This is one of the nicest stick stoves I've purchased. Goes together perfectly and no sharp edges. Easy to clean the interior parts. Going to buy another.

  • Reliable and exceeded expectations
I got this yesterday and I gave it a test run for a camping trip next week. So, the pros: Lightweight, portable, and easily assembled. Not terrible on usage but I'll get to that. It makes a goodly sized fire for it's size if you're using the right fuel. Overall, I enjoy it and think it will provide sufficient heat to cook. Cons: I don't know whether or not this is worthy of a con versus something that's expected for what it is but you will have to feed it pretty often. Since it's not a full campfire, you can't shove a big log and let it burn down. However, since this is tiny, and only requires small sticks, there is never a short supply of those in the woods! If you're looking for something easy to use, small enough to fit in a pack, and don't mind staying on top of it, this is perfect for you! If you don't want to put the extra work in and rely on cumbersome propane tanks, then I'd say move along. Overall, I would certainly get this again even as a gift for a fellow backpacker ... show more

  • Good for Trangia but needs mods to use Stanley Adventure Cook Set
Bought as a wind screen/holder for my trangia alcohol stove. works good for that after I increased the hole size slightly. I believe it was made for a similar but slightly smaller alcohol burning stove. A Stanley adventure cook set won't fit on top of the 4 walls and remain sturdy so I cut out 4 small spots (2 on each wall opposite one another) in order to set 2 modified tent stakes to set level with the rest of the cook set. Stakes pack away just fine in the pouch. Pouch is sturdy and easily holds additional tent stakes cut to be used to hold up my Stanley cook kit, a piece of disposable aluminum pan that was cut to size and folded up to be unfolded and used as a wind screen. Pin came out of one of the hinges but was able to press it back in using just my hands. Probably won't stay in. I used it twice as a wood burning stove and it was a pain to use with wood. Works better as a trangia holder. Not a useless piece of gear but not as multifunctional as I was hoping. Bottom line: I plan on keeping it as an option but won't use it as Plan A on my backpacking trips. ... show more

  • Great stove
Only one use so far to check it out and it does what it's supposed to so far. It'll get some proper field use soon. I'll update my review if I lose a pin or anything like some other reviews have pointed out. I did poke and prod at them quite a bit to try to force one out and they seemed very secure. The price definitely seems more along the lines of what I'd expect from a few sheets of stamped metal. I couldn't justify the similar items at much higher costs. It's a hobo stove, it doesn't require a ton of engineering. It's smaller than I expected, but that is not a bad thing. It's almost oversized wallet sized once its folded up and in its pouch. Very convenient to carry and something I can throw in my pack with no thought to the space/weight it takes up. ... show more

  • Great Portable Stove.
I love this little stove. I have a Firebox Nano and I compare these two to each other. Granted, the Nano is better imo but this little hinged Lixada is good for the price. You can burn wood, or use a Trangia burner with the mount plate for it. I've burned the heck out of mine and it just keeps on going. Always check the hinge pins and keep it clean after use and it should last a long time. I've had a little warping after many hours of use but not enough to take a star away. The minus one star is I wish there were trivets or cross bars that came with it to hold smaller cups. I like that the ash pan has holes in it to allow the fire to breath. However, like many other Lixada stoves, the opening to feed the wood in is too big and too low to the bottom of the stove, allowing the coals or wood to fall out of the stove. It's a tough balance though I guess, because too high an opening and the wood would not be as easy to feed in. If you are in the market for trying out a small portable stove but don't want to spend too much money, I definitely recommend this little Lixada stove. FYI: There is a another hinged version like this from Lixada but instead of the pin to slide in the last hinge it has tabs to lock the panels in place. That version does not rattle as much as this one does and works great too, I prefer that version since there is no pin that could go missing. ... show more
