It had a little smell, but nothing overwhelming and it faded by the next morning. Also, I vacuumed it which instantly fluffed it up and it had that shag look. And it feels as soft as it looks. Lays flat, color is exactly what is pictured. It’s thick and has some pretty good weight to it. Great quality, like it’s got different textures to it. Love it . I apologize, the pictures aren’t exactly of the rug itself, but it’s all I have right now… lol
