This is a heavy wood table. It’s very nice once assembled. The assembly is detailed and not as easy as stated but it’s worth it because the table looks like it should cost a lot more than the purchase price.

We actually didn't expect this table to be as wonderful as it is; especially at such a great price. It is beautiful and we use it as a cozier dining table for 2 or 3 people. Even with 3 people, placemats, dishes and glasses there is plenty of room. The quality is great, the instructions were very clear and the hardware is high quality (they even include 1 extra piece of each thing). It did take a couple of hours to lay everything out and assemble the table....that was to be expected. We bought the oak brown and the color is just like the photo that is shown. The wood has a very nice finish, but to protect it from moisture damage from drinks, we applied three coats of Soft Touch furniture wax on the surface; this always works well. Should have read the 1 and 2 star reviews before ordering. Noticed table reviews too late after ordering that mentioned how difficult this heavy table was to assemble, that table pieces needed to be glued together and that the table size was not as advertised. Very heavy table box arrived and looked like it had previously been opened and not carefully re-taped. Added extra packing tape to safely return table box we never opened. It was not the 39x39 size advertised in the online image. Amazon Customer Service was great in arranging for this very heavy table to be picked up for return the next day because it was too heavy to return on our own.     • Assembly is very troublesome.

It arrived in an extremely heavy box. The top was in two pieces that were to be glued together using wooden pegs that were much smaller than the holes they were intended for. The sheer weight of the two pieces of the top combined with this peg problem made gluing the top together very troublesome. It was extremely difficult to ensure that the top came out flat. The process really requires a larger flat surface and several clamps, two at 4 feet long to press the two halves together and a few smaller ones to reinforce flatness using straight edge lumber. Altogether, I had to spend a out $70 on the clamps and another $20 on glue and rags, the trip to the hardware store took 3 hours. Then, it took 3 hours the first day to glue and clamp up the top, and then, after the glue in the top was dry, another 4 hours to complete assembly the next day. Thus, over two days, I spent about a hundred dollars and ten hours to assemble a table that cost $150. Finally, the table is astonishingly heavy coming in at 65 pounds. Don’t buy this table. The manufacturer is externalizing more of its costs than is morally correct, and a person who has no assembly experience or who is physically small would not be able to manage the process. ... show more
