I was able to install this myself in place of an existing florescent fixture in about an hour, which included taking down the old fixture. For success, I would STRONGLY recommend you watch the video on the product page to get an understanding of what you need to do. Without this you'll be lost. Pay attention to the part where they video moves the retaining wires/clips out of the way when you close it up - easy to screw this up and the cables in the way. That being said, once you power this on you'll be impressed - I was! The light is even and smooth across the face, and no flicker. Things I like about this: you can take it down very easy, if you leave the wiring cover off inside (I did, since the rest is sealed and this gave me a place for extra wiring to fold into). The unit uses a lever-connect wiring harness, which makes things a snap (literally). The flush mount is very close, about a 1mm gap. What I didn't like: lack of instructions. The video is a 100% must-view. I also don't like having the Post Office deliver the unit, and had to rush out to grab it from the dude before he smacked it around his truck - I suspect this is where all the damage people are reporting are coming from, which is not fair to the manufacture. Amazon, stop using the post office and keep with your own trucks. They treat the product better. Other notes: It also looks like this unit can be mounted into a office drop ceiling, if I understand he little L/U shaped bits of metal that can be folded out. I mounted mine into a typical residential ceiling, so drywall anchors are a must. Based on my ceiling construction I opted for something more grunty than the toggles supplied, but they look to be of good quality. Impressed enough we're planning on buying 3-4 more! ... show more

I purchased two lights. They are now both up and really light the space well. The first light went up nicely. The two hinges “clicked” into place on the surface mount system with ease. Wiring and latching into place were accomplished quickly. The second light would not “click” into it’s surface mount bracket. Neither hinge would click. It would just slide out. I tried. Spouse tried. Pushed more firmly than need on other light. Upon close inspection of surface mounting bracket, I could see that the manufacturer had incorrectly installed the spring clip that should lock the hinge. That spring clip was upside down, so the free edge of the clip was tight to the ceiling edge of the bracket. I removed the tiny screws that hold the spring clip, turned over the clip, and screwed it back in place. Now the fixture’s hinges “clicked” into place with ease. If you are have trouble getting your fixture to click onto the mounting bracket, perhaps your spring clips are also upside down. Take a look. It is easy to fix. ... show more

Takes two people to install the bracket since it has a flimsy piece holding the two bracket rails. After installing bracket it's easy to hang, wire and secure in the latches. Looks pretty good once installed. The 5000k setting is slightly brighter than our old 4 tube, 4 foot CFL fixture. Looks really nice when done. ... show more

I can't honestly say how easy it was to install, because we had an electrician do it, but HE said it was easy and straightforward, and he was able to move where the lights were installed in our drop ceiling because these were so thin compared to the old ones. We use the middle setting and it's bright but not like an operating room. It's so even and reliable (our old ones were on their last leg). I'm SO happy with the improvement. So I got two of these for my garage in my home. I wanted to modernize it a bit as I just became a homeowner and the home is 20 years old. They work well once installed but a few things to point out. 1. I would suggest replacing the wires before you attempt to mount it because they are way too short and you don't want issues when you're up there. 2. One of the two I bought had an issue with the bracket on one that you can see in the photos that I had to replace the screws on because it kept falling off and drove me insane. If you buy this, computer case screws work amazing to replace the screws that are clearly faulty. ... show more
