Received this Linsey Swival chair yesterday! My daughter put it together while I held the chair in place. It was difficult for her because it's a bit hard to put the base in the position where all 4 of the screws go into the bottom of the chair! You must have someone to help you keep the chair in place while you put it together! It took 20 minutes. We had company tonight and I told him I wanted him to rate the chair and asked him how comfortable the chair was after an hour and a half and he stated "I'd give it a 2 out of 5!" However, I sat in it to read for a few hours tonight and found it to be firm but comfortable! This chair is very beautiful and it looks great in our living room and I'm taking away one star because it was a bit difficult to get it together and my guest complained it was uncomfortable. I do love this chair and find it comfy. I've had several neck n back surgeries and a firm chair helps me! There isn't any mid to upper back support but I don't mind this. You just have to sit up straight. This chair does swival well too! I have some concerns about how well this chair is made as things aren't made as well as they used to be. I would not put a heavy set person in this chair but would limit it to 200 or under. I'm 5 feet 10 inches tall and 200 pounds and I fit fine in it! I would definitely NOT put anyone in this chair that would be rough or play around on it! Let's face it as we all have a relative like that! I DO recommend using a wide pillow in the back of this chair as it has a very deep seat! Don't use a narrow lumbar pillow as it will just fall out the space in the back of the seat! The velvet fabric on this chair is very soft and beads up if you spill anything on it! My daughter spilled five drops of coffee and it wiped right up with a damp cloth! My daughter had more company this afternoon and she stayed an hour in this chair. She stayed it was firm but comfortable! We put a 20 by 20 square pillow in it and it makes the chair perfectly comfortable! I will update this if this chair doesn't hold up! Good luck, Mary Beth K. ... show more

    • A challenge but worth it

I got two chairs so I will have two reviews. It took a while to get the second one put together. My best advice is to have one of those flashlight things that you can strap onto your head it will help a lot. It was difficult for me to find help because the instructions are really pretty unclear. There are four screw holes in the bottom of the seat, so put that down on the floor first and try to find something to place under the seat so that it's fairly level. Then try to put the swivel part of the pedestal to where those long slotted holes will line up with the holes in the bottom of the seat. There are also holes in the fabric in the bottom of the pedestal, try to line that up too so you can put the screw with the washer on through that long slotted hole and into the screw hole drilled into the bottom of the seat. (I know much easier said than done.) It's pretty important to remember that you're trying to attach one part of the swivel to the bottom of the seat, and that you can turn the swivel in order to line everything up. I hope this is making sense. You can have another person help you if you have a really solid relationship that can handle a few bad words and some possible stress. If not you can actually manage this by yourself (I am 70 and in reasonable shape). I did take frequent breaks but I'm very confident that I put them together correctly and I do like the chairs. I'm live in a cottage so I needed something small that wouldn't take up too much room and yet be comfortable. Stability wise I think it said it can hold up to 250 lbs but size wise it is a good size for me at 5'3" and 160 lb. It would not be a good chair for Refrigerator Perry.
