  • Better than Cable company's
The router that my alleged cable company rented me... stinks. Constant drops, connection issues, etc. My Steam Deck never connected properly to the 5g. So I got this. Setup was a bit complicated. I admit I don't know routers and networking that well, but I have some experience. The smartphone app seemed limited at first but it's just because I wasn't familiar with it. I was eventually able to connect the old fashioned way, through a browser, but only from my pc. Once I was in, I was able to split the bands properly and tweak the experience. That was day 1. I haven't had a single connection issue since that day. Even my beloved Deck stays reliably connected to 5g and I'm finally able to stream from my pc properly, without any lag, over wifi. Price was good and it performs beautifully for my needs. My only complaint is that there's no way to alter the radio frequency of the 5g bands, to fully eliminate interference from my many neighbors. But my router puts out a strong enough signal that this hasn't been an issue. I very much recommend this router. ... show more

  • Worked great and only took about 5 minutes to configure
I did not use this as a mesh router but rather a secondary router attached to my home router. I need wifi in my detached shop and ran cat 6 to this. Installed very easily with the app downloaded. This replaced a cheaper router I had originally installed and a VERY noticeable difference in range and strength! ... show more

  • Great product
I had an old slow router. Took very little time to install new router and set up my devices. Very fast with great throughput.

  • Supports Traditional Setup without the "Official" App
This is a refurbished product - and so far so good. I ended up configuring the router by using the traditional "ethernet" approach. The official LinkSys "app" didn't seem to be getting anywhere although I gave it 3 chances. So I just connected a network cable between a spare Ethernet port on my PC and one of the LAN ports on the new router. I discovered that the router had established itself as 192.168.1.1 so I was able to point my browser at that. I did eventually find the setting that puts the router into "bridge" mode. And I was able to discover its MAC address and assign it a proper IP in my main router. WiFi setup was pretty easy however I don't have the option to choose what channels it uses and it's not willing to tell me what channels it has picked. So I had to "sniff" that out using "WiFi Man" and a few other techniques. This is important if you have several routers across your "campus" and you'd also like to show some consideration to your neighbors. My goal in purchasing this router was to better sever my 2.4ghz WiFi devices. The product arrived in the mail in an OEM cardboard box. It included a power adapter and a basic RJ45 cable. Hopefully this device will serve faithfully for many years. I would definitely consider purchasing a second one in the future. ... show more

  • It does the job.
Very good router so far. I did have to reboot it once after about a month of running without interruptions. Very happy with the purchase!

  • Problems start after about 1 hour of use
This was the second try for this router and no success. I am database administrator and family members very savy computer knowlegeable. This runs into connection failure after about an hour or two of use. It works great and then it fails connection or low/slow bandwith. I connect in within seconds with my Belkin and no problems I have been back with my Belkin for a week and no connection errors at all. I tried this one last time and at 1.5 hours of use and connection drops yet again. The error reconnects in seconds not enough for my cable company to track but long enough for me to have to reconnect it. I an doomed to stay with my older Belkin router. Sorry it is going back. Yes it is about 5 feet above the floor. ... show more

  • Linksys says not eligible for support, although says certified manufacturer refurbished!
Linksys says not eligible for support, although says certified manufacturer refurbished! Support told me they would give me one time support because I just bought it, but after this I was on my own. Managed to set up on my own with some help from internet provider. This MR8300 router was easy to manually set up with static IP address, once I got the information from my internet provider. Not sure this is any better than Linksys AC2200 I already have, but Linksys was unable to set up AC2200 with static IP address, which I required, for my installation. Now the MR8300 is the master router and the AC2200 are all active nodes. ... show more
