It does look good once you (finally) get it installed. Let me start by saying, this was not my first rodeo. I've replaced dozens of lights and am generally fairly handy. Not to brag, but I've even successfully put IKEA furniture together. That said, this light is a royal pain. Most lights are very simple to install; basic wiring, a couple of screws and you are done. This one requires considerably more. BEGIN BY MAKING CERTAIN THE POWER IS OFF. TEST IT, DO NOT JUST FLIP THE SWITCH AND ASSUME IT IS NO LONGER LIVE! First, align the screws in the bracket to the holes in the mount by putting the mount on the bracket. Then tighten both nuts on the bolts to hold the bolts in the proper position. A screwdriver and pliers work well. If you attach the bracket to the ceiling and your mount doesn't align with the screws to attach it, foul language is likely to occur. Second, the light and mounting for the light are a rectangle, so you have to install the bracket to the ceiling. Do not count on attaching the bracket to the junction box in the ceiling like you normally would with your typical light install. The bracket has to align with whatever you are installing the light over, i.e. the direction of your table or counter. The bracket is not likely to do so using the screw holes on the junction box. So begin by either attaching the bracket to a ceiling joist or if there isn't one going the direction you need, use drywall anchors. Third, put the light together. This part is fairly straight forward. The only real thing to point out here is that the two rectangles that slide down over the light have one thru hole and one with a female receiver. The thru hole goes on top. Fourth, you are working with two wires. The plastic nuts that hold them in place to the mount are cheap and hard to thread the wire through. If you start by flipping the plastic nuts around and threading the wire that way first, it seems to stretch them out a bit to make threading them the right way easier. Fifth, decide how close to the ceiling you want the light. Lift it up and then slide the plastic nuts from the mount (not the ones already on the wire) down to the selected point on one of the wires. The plastic nuts already on the wire can be screwed to the light itself. Sixth, attach the mount to the light with the plastic nut at the point selected. This is the distance your light will hang from the ceiling. Seventh, measure the wire from the light to the mount and slide the second wire through the plastic nut and then the mount to that same point. Attach the mount with the plastic nut at the proper distance. Measure both sides to be sure they are the same, or your light will not hang level. Eighth, cut your wires, but leave a few extra inches than you think you need. I suggest laying the wires (criss cross) down across the length of the mount and cutting it an inch or so past the edge of the mount. They have a woven thread cover over a thick plastic casing, and the casing is hard to strip off the wires without cutting the casing of the wires themselves too. A universal wire stripper like the one in my picture works best. Ninth, splice the two black wires and two white wires from your two wires coming from the light to the corresponding black and white wires in the ceiling. Tape and cap all three wires of both. Tenth, attach your mount to the bracket using the two screw caps provided. If the mount lines up with your screws, congratulations. If not, proceed with foul language, remove the bracket and adjust your screws. Once attached, you can use a level to see how well you did measuring, but some things are better left unknown. Eleventh, this light does not come with light bulbs, so grab whatever light bulbs you bought and put them in. Finally, now is the moment of truth. Turn on the power and flip your switch. If all four lights come on, you are done. Thankfully, mine did. From reading some of the other reviews, not everyone is so lucky. A couple of final thoughts. I've attached a picture of the instructions. They are basically worthless. If you are referring to them for help, hire someone to hang this light for you. Also, mine came with a lot of random spare parts (never even opened the bag in the picture). Some of them had nothing to do with the light install. I think this is to be sure that you do not get over confident. The entire install you are left wondering whether you did something wrong, up until the moment you flip the switch. Lastly, if you are buying this light for your spouse to hang and you are angry with them, this is proper punishment. If you love them, please hire someone. If you are buying this and plan to hang it yourself after reading this, then you are my kind of people, and this rite of passage is for you. I wish you good luck. ... show more

Beautiful light fixture, lightweight, semi-simple to install. The instructions were similar to IKEA style instructions (lol). Adjustable height. Sleek and modern look. Looks great with Edison lightbulbs! We used a smoked Edison bulb.

This turned out as beautifully as I thought it would, and I really couldn’t have installed it without the detailed review with install instructions from “I buy stuff” on May 30, 2020. Also, I’ll say that I purchased 5 light fixtures to install, and I’d never installed a light fixture before.. and somehow I chose this one (the hardest one) first. LOL!!! I ended up having it a few inches shorter than I wanted it to be, because I didn’t realize you have to pull the cords together to meet in the middle in order to connect to the junction box. So when you measure your cords, give yourself like 5-6 extra inches until you are 100% sure you know how the install is going to go. I gave myself like 3 extra inches. Read the confusing instructions first. Then read the instructions in the review by the person named “I buy stuff” whose tag line is “Nice looking, but PAINFUL TO INSTALL!!!”. Then read them again. Then maybe watch a YouTube video with similar looking chandeliers (like I did) if you need more of a visual. Then get a friend to help you hold it up while you curse and attempt to connect the wires to the wires in the junction box, because this light fixture is HEAVY. Great light fixture. Our dining room is designer magazine worthy now. I spray painted the gold parts to a flat black. Looks much better. The gold was a little too brassy/cheap looking for my liking.

First step: open the box and throw the directions away. Good luck after that. The fixture looks GREAT! But the install was difficult and the metal bracket did not fit on the electrical box that held my previous light, so I had to figure that out before I could even put it up. Even with the new box it was difficult to hang as the screws that were provided were too long and the fixture was not flush to the ceiling. ... show more
