It is more like 4 inches thick...so I wouldn't go any thinner than this one. We use it to camp on, and I can't feel the ground with my hips...but ALMOST. It would be perfect for a kid! A 200 pound grownup might like a bit more support/thickness in an all-foam mattress. It also has some off-gassing at first, but it goes away pretty quickly. I thought the item was bad quality because it was very thin for the first 30 minutes. Didn’t realize it takes time for a gel foam mattress in a box to get its real shape after a couple of hours. Love my new mattress.

When we move, we couldn't get the queen size bed up the staircase. We purchased this bed to be able to carry it up the stairs and then allow it to completely rise. She likes it and says it was comfortable. It fits well on the frame we purchased it with and seems like it will hold up pretty well.

I can see how it would feel cheap or thin if you put it on a bed stand, but I bought it for a loft with limited head space and it’s perfect.
