I have a television in the kitchen that is mounted on an arm betweent the top of the sliding glass door and the ceiling. the "SMART" TV lost its' smarts when their licensing deal ran out with Yahoo who was providing all the smart apps. I didn't want to buy a new set to fit so the firestick looked like a good option. It works well and was very easy to install and get working

The device worked and looks as new. After some time using this version of the Firestick, I couldn't be happier. It has replaced a Visio TV (slow and glitchy) as the primarary driver of media. The stick is responsive and has most of what I need, even Steamlink. Amazon music sounds great via HDMI compared to from phone via Bluetooth on the stereo. Nice product.

I’m beyond frustrated with how these Amazon Fire Stick devices now behave. I have five of them installed throughout my home, and every single one has the same infuriating issue: if I pause a stream — or even let it play for a couple of hours without touching the remote — the device shuts itself down and every TV flips to a blue “No Signal” screen. This is absolutely not a cabling or hardware problem. My setup is rock‑solid. To eliminate any doubt, I’ve turned off screensavers, adjusted every relevant setting on multiple smart TV brands, reconfigured all five Fire Sticks, and even wasted time calling customer “do‑not‑care” tech support. Nothing fixes it. At this point, it feels like an intentional design choice — one that forces the device to stop streaming instead of simply staying paused or continuing playback like any competent streaming device should. It’s disruptive, it’s inconvenient, and it makes the product feel cheap and poorly engineered. A streaming device should not shut itself off after a few minutes of inactivity, especially when multiple units are running throughout a home for different functional areas. And while we’re at it, the remotes are just as poorly made. The sliding battery covers refuse to stay on for more than a month or two. I’ve had to tape them shut or buy silicone sleeves just to keep the batteries contained. That’s not just annoying — it’s a safety concern. Loose AA batteries are a serious hazard for children, pets, and anyone who might find them. Amazon needs to address both the flawed software behavior and the flimsy remote design immediately. If this is the direction they’re heading, they might as well rename the product “Water Noodle,” because it’s about as useful as one.
