I mainly bought this hub to help me expand the storage on my 2017 iPad with the operating system upgraded to iPadOS. I was able to put a micro SD card in the slot, plug in 2 USB thumb drives, and even used a 500GB external USB drive. Some observations to report: 1. The hub allowed me to use the micro usb and thumb drives without a power cable attached. 2. A power cable needs to be attached when using an external USB hard drive. 3. All the ports and card slots can be used at the same time. 4. The USB ports on the hub can handle other devices such as a wired mouse and keyboard. I used a Logitech mouse and a wired Apple keyboard. 5. The hub is plug and play. You do not need to install any software drivers. The cards and drives can be browsed with Finder app. 6. This hub works with iPhones and iPads that have Lightning Ports. It does not plug into USB-C ports. 7. Unlike other hubs on the market, this one does not overheat. 8. There is an HDMI port, but have not had a chance to use it yet. The manufacturer claims it can be plugged into a TV or monitor. I imagine it can also plug into a projector. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a hub for iPhone or older iPad.

I get most people are going to be purchasing this to connect their iOS devices to individual peripherals. However, I was looking for a way to transfer files from an SD card to an external USB drive for video projects on the road. After connecting *power* to this device, plus the *SD card* and *external drive*, I was able to transfer files under 4GB. Unfortunately, something in the iOS system would cause the transfer to crash. I tried it with an iPhone and an iPad with the same result. I also tested a few different formats on the external drive to no avail. I suspect the iOS device has some sort of memory limitation after 4GB. If you want to transfer photos from an SD card to an external drive using your iOS device, this seems like a viable option - but you have to run power to this adapter first in order to power the external drive.

My wireless printer isn’t communicating with my iPad. I a new printer since it still works good. With this hub, I can hardwire my iPad directly to my printer and print what I need. Plus with the hdmi on the hub, I can see what I see on my ipad but on a larger monitor.
