These replacement cutters hold an edge longer than the ones that came on my tools. I turn mostly mesquite burl wood thats 2 to 300 years old plus, it's extremely well seasoned and often harder than steel, in fact when I used high speed steel tools I would justleave my grinder running because the mesquite would dull them so fast!!! Not so with the tungsten cutting bits. Great product!!!

I was excited to try these out and so set up the lathe with a small blank and the square cutter and was amazed how fast it took down the material! Wasn’t terrible about end grain tear out either! The long run will determine just how good these are. My reason for 4 stars is 1) Some of these no matter how much you tighten the screws still were loose, personally I think it’s the type of screws used to hold the carbide bits in place. 2) should’ve have a handled bit driver for all the screws, just knowing they will strip out with the small pieces it came with! Regardless I feel like so far these are great, especially for the price!

Again I am just a beginner at wood turning on the lathe. I am just getting into the finer points of the art. The only one of these knives I can get any production from is the roughing gouge. The skew, the bowl gouge, and the edger are taking me a while longer to master.
