  • Great Motorcycle for the Money
I have been riding this motorcycle now for about 3 months, and have ~1,000 miles. These are the thoughts/comments I have: It seems a lot of China motorcycles require a fair amount of tinkering to get them to run properly. Not so with the Lifan. It was pretty easy to put together. I put in some gas and on the first attempt it fired right up. I did have a pin-hole leak in a gas line, but that was a pretty easy fix. I also had to adjust the rear brake. Other than that I changed the oil before even running it, which is recommended with these bikes. And then I've been driving it ever since. The engine was pretty tight in the beginning, but it started to break in and loosen up around 400 miles. The engine on this motorcycle is very nice. It has nice gloss black paint and little chrome bits all over it. It really runs nicely and sounds quite good at ~10,000 rpm. Some of the other rpms though (in particular ~7.000 rpm), the engine doesn't sound terribly cool. Certainly no Ducati twin or Triumph Triple. I think the exhaust doesn't do the engine any favors. I may try a different exhaust eventually to see if any improvements can be made. The transmission shifts nicely as well. It's a bit tricky finding Neutral on occasion, but it seems to be getting better lately. I often use the kick starter. Because I can, and because it's just cool to kick-start your bike. The flat black wheels with chrome spokes are pretty cool, and are of good quality. I really like the tires it comes with...more of an adventure bike tyre as opposed to a typical enduro tyre. Works better for me since I'm primarily on the street so far. Both brakes work well. The front disc has good stopping power. The rear is drum so not as powerful of course, but it is also mechanical, simple, and does the job. I quite like the suspension. Seems to have just the right amount of compliance for me (~200 lbs). Perhaps a bit on the soft side but it suits the bike. Seems right for a bike with off-road capability. It is a non-adjustable rear mono shock. The front forks are smaller in diameter as compared to bikes of today, but really work fine. The bike weighs less than 300 lbs and is very flickable. I can throw it into turns very easily. It's really fun to drive on twisty roads. Because it's so light it is easy to ride. Except when it's windy... The instrument panel is really good for this type of bike. Analog tach and digital speedo. As the engine speed increases, little red lights on the tach light up, following the needle. Also has a fuel gauge, odometer and trip gauge, N indicator, high-beam, and gear indicator. You can change the backlight color of the LCD from blue to red. The body plastics and lights are good quality. That said I really didn't like the look of the turn signals so I swapped them out for some black retro-style signals. The turn signals were LED so replacements were plug-and-play. The brake/tail light is also LED and works well. I swapped out the halogen headlight for an LED and gives some added brightness. There is a spot for cargo on the rear of the bike. Not really a rack per-se, but you can mount a trunk box if you want. The metal bike frame runs through this cargo area so a trunk box could be mounted securely. I just use a Chase Harper trunk bag strapped down to the back seat with bungee cords. All-in-all it's a pretty nice bike and it is fun to ride. Do I wish it had more than 14 HP? Sure. This bike would be great with 400cc. But the engine still gets you around pretty well. You just have to work through the gears more. It's more fun to drive a slow motorcycle fast than to drive a fast motorcycle slow. And, it gets 80+ mpg. It's pretty cool to drive 120 miles and only need to fill up 1.5 gallons. With regards to speed, it seems happy to run up to 60 mph. I drive around town, no highway, so usually top out around 52-55. It'll go past 60 but I haven't really stayed there for more than a few seconds. For me this is fine. As others have done I may swap out the sprockets eventually. Glad I bought the bike. I've been having a lot of fun with it. It's not perfect but for the price I couldn't really go wrong. Update June-2022: Fixed the mid-RPM unpleasantness to the engine. Turned out it was an exhaust leak at the head. I installed a new bronze exhaust gasket and the problem went away. The engine now sounds like you would expect from a single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. I also replaced the rear sprocket with a 41T that works much better for street use. ... show more

  • Wow !!!!!! What an amazing bike
I have to tell you, I was sceptial at first, after owning a rps hawk and a chinese scooter 300cc both of which I had to get both of them running and I tuned and adjusted, Installed a new digital speedometer for the hawk, also lowered the hawk front forks, it was a monster tall and not very user friendly, the scooter vibrated so bad I sold it and took a $1000 loss on it, I couldn't stand it. well enough of those bad memorys, and along came the lifan x-pect 200 It was a blessing quality was way better and efi is awsome started and idled on the first push of the start button, took it for a ride, it rode smooth and shifted smoothly no rattles no stalling and sputtering just smooth, I also purchased Japenese motorcycles a tw 200, a suzuki van van, they were good bikes also but the price was 21/2 times what the lifan cost. but the Lifan is the most fun to ride, Less than 1/2 the price. I smile when i get on it, I am a short guy 5 ft 6" the Lifan is a lot shorter than the hawk, I would recomend the motorcycle over the rest, trust me when I say it is way better, I hope you enjoy it like I do. ps I got the paperwork for the title, before i recieved the bike, took to DMV got plates and title. ... show more

  • Great cheap bike
So to be clear this isn’t the best bike on the market. This bike isn’t very powerful and lacks a bit of the fit an finish you would find on other bikes. That being said this is probably the best bike you can get for 2500 bucks. Where I live on the used market you’ll maybe find a 90s dr300 that’s beat up from its 4 previous owners for a similar price and that doesn’t really compare to this bike. If you want something more powerful you’ll have to spend a lot more money. The bike isn’t terribly underpowered and still is fun for casual riding and maybe even more fun because of how lightweight and forgiving the bike is. I’ve had mine a few months now and have had one issue with an air intake sensor cracking. I’m very pleased with how both Lifan (the manufacturer) and x-pro (the seller) handled it. I was able to call Lifan and get on the phone with a real person within 1 minute, pretty impressive these days and they offered a little technical help so I could figure out what was wrong with the bike. They told me to contact the seller and request a new air intake sensor so that’s what I did. I was even more impressed with the Amazon seller because all I had to do was explain that I needed and new air intake sensor and they are sending one out to me for free with no questions asked within a week or two of me asking. I’m a bit disappointed that I had this issue with the bike but they way x-pro and Lifan handled the situation makes me feel much better and really happy knowing I have a way to get ahold of support when I need it. Again not the best bike in the world but decent build quality, fun performance and great customer support overall makes this bike a great purchase. ... show more

  • Great budget bike
I was not expecting such good quality for something that cost $1800. I put about 400 miles or so after break in and the bike is a blast to ride around town. I wouldn’t take it on the highway since top speed isn’t very high and the motor will be screaming. But for a beginner bike to learn and ride around town you can not get a better deal. There is the Hawk as well which is the competition but Lifans quality is subpar. ... show more

Color: Green
Have plenty of bikes in the fleet but was feeling frisky and wanted to get something for my dad for Father's day. Came shipped on a short semi. Quick delivery. Great communication from seller. Easy to piece together. Enough shipping metal around it to one protect it and two build a go kart frame with. Runs great. Valves were set correct on arrival. Make sure to drain and put real oil in bike before first use. ... show more
