I live in a small apartment in an old pre-war NYC building and was afraid this was going to be too much draw on the electrical, but I've had no problems and it keeps me, my fiance, and our kitties nice and cool in this extreme heat. It's also nice and slim, so I can slide it into the corner when not in use. The only thing is, the plastic that the hose connects to that sits in the window must be cut to size. Thankfully my fiance had tools for this, but it definitely needs more than just scissors to cut. Something to keep in mind.

I may have expected too much from this unit. My shed/wood shop is only 10x16 and once it hits 80 outside it can't keep up.

We are quite familiar with portable a/c units. This LG unit at 6000 btu is actually suited to up 350 sq ft area in my experience. We run 2 units in 750+ sq ft living/kitchen area and works well with a fan to help circulate the air. I simply used the window adaptor from one of our older units (prefer the slimmer window panel) and switched out adaptor that attaches to the unit. The unit performs well. Couple minor points...I noticed it does not have swing vents, just manually direct the up-down angle of the vents. The remote is not used much because it has no display to show what mode or temp you are going to when you press the button unless you memorize the sequence. Our other remotes show you what mode or temp you are in/going to. I also prefer the window pieces that you adjust with a screw and metal plate in a groove in the middle. This has the screw in the side and holes do not always suite the length you need so you have to drill a hole. Also interferes with closing the tight due to the screw making it uneven, which I use foam for more airtight seal. Overall, the unit does cool well. In humid weather the dry mode cools the room just by removing the humidity. Sufficient power and portability is nice. Any water collectly should be dispersed by the unit, should not have to drain ever, unless maybe humid all the time areas! Not northern Wisconsin. Noise level may be a tad more than our amana but very close. Price point is reasonable for a name brand portable unit with same btu level. I do recommend an insulated sleeve to put over the duct. It does get warm and is only reheating your room. They cut with a scissor to fit the length of hose. I have to put it on yet, not in pics.

The LG 6000 BTU portable air conditioner is an effective cooling solution for small to medium rooms (up to ~250-350 sq ft), offering mostly easy setup, quiet operation, convenient features, and strong performance. Huge Positive: My computer/gaming/movie room is about 15x18ft with windows on 3 sides. Due to the orientation of my house, it literally gets cooked all day long. Even during the winter, it's usually 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the same floor. During the summer, with the computer, monitors, etc., running, it can be 80 outside and 92 in the room without AC, and even worse the hotter it gets. This is with UV blocking materials in the windows and extra thick room-darkening curtains. This unit is able to drop the temp down to 72 in about 15 minutes and hold it there without endlessly running. Extremely impressive! Positives: - Cools rooms effectively and quickly, maintaining set temperatures efficiently with a thermostat. - Relatively quiet operation; the fan is very smooth sounding; suitable for bedrooms, offices, and living spaces. - Convenient LCD remote control panel and simple remote that controls all settings. - Self-evaporating design means little to no manual draining in most conditions, 1 month, haven't had to drain it at all! - Modern design that takes up reasonable floor space and is easier to store seasonally. - Trusted LG build quality and performance; good value for a name-brand portable unit. - Remote works well even from a distance or out of line of sight. Negatives: - The window adapter is 100% junk, feeling cheap and likely requiring tape and/or glue to keep it in place. - There's literally a tiny little tab of less than 1/8" of plastic that locks the hose adapter in place to the panel placed in the window. To keep mine in place, I had to use very strong tape. Without it, the second I'd touch the hose at all, it'd fall off the window panel. - When using in horizontal position, you're likely going to be forced to use a hacksaw to cut the window panel. Considerations: - Best performance in smaller enclosed spaces with doors closed and good air circulation (fans help in larger areas). - You're going to need some inexpensive, easily compressible foam strips to fill in the gap left due to your window being open at the top or side. Overall: - A solid, dependable portable AC that excels in small-to-medium rooms and serves well as a supplemental or backup unit. I'm very satisfied with its cooling power, ease of use, and convenience compared to my old window unit. Even with the negatives around the window mount, it cools exceptionally well and runs quietly enough that I still highly recommended it as a worthwhile investment for hot weather relief! The LG 6000 BTU SACC Portable Air Conditioner is a nice AC for small-medium sized rooms. I got this AC to use in our bedroom because our heat pump just isn't strong enough to cool the entire house. It replaced a standard window unit AC that we've had for years. So far, we're thrilled with the performance of this AC. It has a thermostat, so you set the temp you want maintained, and the AC does the rest. It turns off and on, which is much more energy efficient than one that constantly runs non-stop. I'm not really sure why this AC is referred to as being portable. I mean, you can move it around as far as the air duct will allow, which is probably about 2-3 feet, at most. I suppose you could pull the air duct out of the window and move the AC, but I'm not sure why you'd do that. The only reason I can figure is for storing it at the end of the season. It will be much easier to store away for winter than a standard window unit. The AC is very quiet while operating. There is a low hum, but it's very quiet. The AC is easy to operate. The buttons are pretty self explanatory. The AC was easy to install. The only thing that had to be done was measuring and cutting the board in order to block off the window. This AC is quite different than a standard window unit, but I think once we're used to it, we'll like it more than the regular window units.I love the fact that it doesn't block my window like our last one did. It does take up a bit of floor space, but not too much. The AC works very well at cooling our room and we are very happy with this order. Having a name like LG gives me confidence that the machine will be reliable and function exactly as it should. If you're searching for an AC for a small-medium sized room, I would definitely recommend this one
