We absolutely love our LG StanbyME 2! It’s one of those products we weren’t sure how much we’d use, but now we use it almost every day. We love watching TV shows and movies on it, and it’s become a favorite for entertaining too. We’ve used it to display menus and drink lists at parties, and it’s so easy to move wherever we need it thanks to the built-in wheels. The magnetic remote is a small feature that makes a huge difference because it’s always right where you left it. Battery life has also been excellent and we’ve been impressed by how long it lasts on a single charge. One of our favorite features is taking it outside to the patio for movie nights or to watch games. It makes outdoor entertaining so much more fun without having to move or mount a full-size TV on our patio. We also LOVE the two-player games that let you sit across from each other. They’re such a fun addition for date nights or when friends are over. There are just a few things we’d love to see improved: • We wish every app was fully touch-screen compatible. Some require the remote instead of letting you tap the screen, which can be frustrating when you’re expecting a tablet-like experience. • Since it runs LG’s operating system instead of Apple or Android, not every app is available. For example, we can’t watch SportsNet Pittsburgh directly, and apps like Kindle and Audible aren’t available, so we have to AirPlay from our phones instead. • We’d love to see LG expand the library of two-player face-to-face games. The ones included are so much fun that we immediately wanted more (card match is a fav)! Overall, those are relatively minor complaints compared to everything this device does well. It’s unique, incredibly versatile, and has genuinely made our home more functional and more fun. This was a Christmas gift to my husband. He loves it and uses it almost every day - sometimes to watch sports while we watch our show together, sometimes to have a second game on. The kids love it too. We love being able to move it around the house, it fits right in and we could tuck it away in a closet if we needed. It looks nice sitting in the living room and isn’t an eyesore. The functionality is good and everything works as expected. The kids have already used it to play some games. The sound quality is fine. It’s expensive but it’s great for a tech and/or TV (especially sports!) lover. I hesitated to buy for a while due to the price but we find it more than worth it! I’ve been using the LG StanbyME 2 and it has been surprisingly useful around the house. The screen quality is excellent, and the portability is what really makes it stand out. Being able to move it from room to room and adjust the height, angle, and rotation makes it incredibly flexible. I like using it for watching shows, quick work tasks, and even following recipes while cooking. The battery life has been solid, and the touchscreen is responsive and easy to use. Overall, it feels well built and thoughtfully designed. It's a thoughtfully designed portable screen that's ideal for small spaces, temporary setups, or anywhere you don't want a permanent TV. It's easy to move, looks clean in any room, and works great as a primary or secondary display. What Works: • Highly portable – The rolling stand makes it effortless to reposition around your home. • Great for limited space – Perfect for apartments, dorms, or multi-use rooms. • Decent screen and sound – Solid for casual viewing and streaming, though not high-end. • webOS – It is what it is and gets the job done Pricing: Slightly high for the specs, but the price reflects the convenience and versatility of a unique, niche product. It brings together a flexible feature set that most other solutions can’t match in a single package. I do think LG could and should offset the high price by offering an option to buy just the display without the stand. Version 3 Wishlist: • Flush glass screen for a premium, polished look. • Fabric back (like the original StanbyME) for a warmer, more refined aesthetic. Accessory Wishlist: • Kickstand accessory (originally teased but not released) would be far more convenient than the current folio; switching between folio and stand should be more seamless. • Companion speaker accessory – a la Sony's HT-AX7-style portable surround system seems ideal and if LG made their own version with the StanbyMe line in mind, it would be a perfect bundle opportunity. • Briefcase-style accessory (inspired by the StanbyME Go) with added battery life and/or built-in audio would be fun way to enhance portability. We originally bought this TV as an alternative to individual iPads, and it’s been a fantastic addition to our home. Instead of everyone being isolated on their own devices, we can now watch together—whether it’s YouTube or Netflix—and actually interact, monitor what they’re watching, and have conversations as a family. It’s surprisingly versatile, too. The kids love the built-in games and drawing features, which adds more than just passive screen time. At the same time, adults in the house enjoy using it just as much. Having it positioned near the couch makes it easy to turn on a show or casually watch something without committing to the main TV. One unexpected benefit is how comfortable it feels compared to a large TV. We’ve gotten so used to this size and setup that watching on a big screen now feels a bit overwhelming. This strikes a perfect balance between personal and shared viewing. I owned a StandbyMe Go. I loved the concept - a portable TV that you can take anywhere - but the picture quality was somewhat washed out, and the weight was insane (28 pounds!). It really killed the whole portability aspect. There was also no USB-C support, so you couldn't attach cameras or hook up game systems without using HDMI. This next-generation StandByMe effectively addresses all of these issues. You get the awesomeness of the mobile stand and the ability to roll it anywhere (except on carpet - the rollers hate carpet). When you want to take it with you, it's only 10 pounds, as opposed to 28. The picture quality isn't mind-blowing, but the washed-out aspect is gone. The touch screen is very responsive. It features a USB-C port, allowing you to connect cameras or plug your game systems, such as a Steam Deck, directly into a USB-C port. You can even charge it with a portable charger as long as it can go 65W or higher. The only nitpick, and this is a matter of personal preference, is that LG's WebOS doesn't have as many apps as Roku, Google Play, or Amazon's Fire TV. It does have access to cloud gaming, such as Xbox and GeForce Now, which helps a lot. Of course, you can get around this by just using your favorite streaming device in the HDMI slot, though you won't have the touchscreen aspect. Overall, I didn't use the first generation as much as I could have because it was clunky and heavy. I am using this a lot more.
