NOTE: Make sure you have an appropriately sized window within 5 ft of where the unit will be placed. Keep in mind that the exhaust unit requires opening the window by 10"-12", you will need some type of window lock or bar to ensure that thieves cannot open the window further. PROs ⚡ Aggressive cooling: It drops room temperatures remarkably fast, throwing a heavy volume of crisp, freezing airflow right out of the gate. ⚡ Solid automation: The ThinQ app and smart voice integrations work flawlessly for remote scheduling, off-site monitoring, and tracking energy usage. Cools room FAST. Compressor is EXTREMELY loud when it first kicks on. It’s literally an event when the compressor first turns on. It wakes me up throughout the night. The older model, the fan stayed continuously on, so it masked the compressor sound. This one, the fan is only on when it’s trying to cool the room. It turns off when it reaches temp. I have been extremely impressed with this portable air conditioner from the moment I set it up. The instructions were clear, well organized, and included step-by-step guidance that made the entire installation process surprisingly easy. I had it assembled and running in no time, even without any prior experience setting up a portable AC unit. Once it was running, I was immediately impressed with how quickly it started cooling the room. The airflow is strong, and it does an excellent job of bringing the temperature down much faster than I expected. It has multiple operating modes and temperature settings, making it easy to customize how you want it to run depending on the weather or your comfort level. One of my favorite features is the oscillating air vents. You can either manually direct the airflow where you want it or enable the swing function, which continuously moves the airflow up and down to circulate cool air more evenly throughout the room. The included remote works exceptionally well and has excellent range—I can adjust the temperature and settings from across the room without any issues. Another standout feature is the companion app, which was just as easy to install and connect as the unit itself. I love being able to turn the air conditioner on before I get home so the room is already cool when I walk in. The app also provides useful information like energy usage, filter life, and reminders when it's time to clean or replace the filter, which adds a level of convenience I wasn't expecting. After using this unit, I honestly prefer it over a traditional window air conditioner. It's packed with thoughtful features, cools extremely well, and has exceeded my expectations in every way. I’ve had 2 LG portable AC units since 2018. It was time to get a new one, so I remained loyal and bought another. It gets a 2 stars because it does make the room cold. That said, it makes an awful loud whooshing noise that every 30-60 seconds. This was even after turning off the swing feature. I looked into it and others have noted the same problem. Missing window kit! AC looks nice, but I don’t feel comfortable to use it when nobody home. We’ve bought it as a temporary solution, because we had to remove our regular window AC from the window during facade works. Otherwise I would not buy it.

This portable air conditioner does an excellent job cooling a medium-sized room. It lowers the temperature quickly, maintains it consistently, and has enough capacity to keep a space comfortable even during hot afternoons. The airflow is strong, and the unit does a good job removing humidity, making the room feel noticeably more comfortable. The smart features are a nice bonus. Connecting it to the app was straightforward, and being able to adjust the temperature, change modes, or turn the unit on before entering the room is very convenient. Voice control also worked well once everything was connected. The included window installation kit was easy to assemble, and the instructions were clear. I picked this up as a temporary solution as our central AC often goes down for repairs, and for that purpose it has been excellent. The casters make it genuinely easy to move between rooms despite being quite heavy, and it cools medium to large rooms effectively. Noise is the biggest adjustment with this unit, and it's worth being direct about: it is significantly louder than any window AC unit I've owned. This is inherent to the design — because the exhaust fan stays inside the room rather than sitting outside like a window unit does, the noise level is unavoidably higher. Fan-only and dehumidifier modes are quieter than full cooling, but still considerably louder than a standard box or floor fan. I'd think carefully before putting this in a bedroom; living spaces where background noise is less of an issue are a better fit. On the practical side: the auto-swinging vents distribute air surprisingly well across a room, and the 10-minute post-cycle drying mode is a useful feature for unit longevity. The exhaust hose runs about 5 feet, which affects where you can realistically position the unit relative to a window — I've included photos of the layout diagram from the instructions. One thing worth clarifying from another review I came across: there are air filters on both rear intakes, and they're easy to remove and clean (see my photos). The LG ThinQ app is well implemented — useful for remote control and for monitoring power usage. Alexa integration works reliably and opens up solid automation options for scheduling and temperature management, which goes a long way toward compensating for the noise by letting you pre-cool a space before you need it. The noise alone nearly cost it a star, but it's hard to fault a portable indoor unit for the physics of cooling 450 square feet.
