The air pump works well for my use case. I am interested in setting up a Dutch Bucket DWC Hydroponics system. This means that the air pump must be able to deliver air to a depth of 12 inches (the depth of a 5 gallon bucket). The pump was able to do so, even at low mode, to deliver air to at least a depth of 15 inches. And, it does so quietly. So, the air pump will work for my purpose. Here are some technological limitations that you need to know, otherwise it may dampen your expectations. 1. The pump uses a lithium battery for backup power. 2. The pump uses a solar panel. 3. It appears to be using a diaphragm, but I am not sure without dismantle it. All 3 of the technologies above deteriorate with time. So, I would say that the pump will last about 3 years. What is more important is that lithium batteries do not like to be overcharged, charged to full, or undercharged. Well, so be very careful with battery management. Say, if you run your pump in the dark, and the battery gets fully discharged, you will end up with extremely battery deterioration. So, make sure the solar panel of the pump gets sunlight. Other niceties: 1. Sleek industrial design. 2. Seems to be water resistant. I left it out for a charge on a drizzling day, and the pump is fine. 3. Comes with a USB charging cable, and the ability to be charged by USB. 4. It has a intermittent mode that saves even more power than its low mode. The media could not be loaded. (Updated) Great customer service, the seller contacted me immediately after receiving my review, offered me refund or replacement. Replacement was received very fast and the air pump is working great, my fish and plants are happy. What I really like about this product is that it can be recharged two ways, Solar & Plug-in. —————————————————- I have this air pump for 7 months. It’s a nice air pump I use for my fish tanks, 5.5 & 10 gallons. It works well until 2 months ago, it started to make weird and loud noise. I bought this as a supplement to my electric aerator. Even at full charge, only one stone functioned properly. The solar panels do not seem to function at all - only manual charging works.The device finally gave out entirely and stopped working. I do not not recommend, especially if relying on this to be a back during a power outage. ... show more

    • Only Charges When Plugged In
I purchased this aerator because it is advertised as solar powered with the option to charge with electricity. The solar feature isn’t working? As a result we have to bring it in every couple of days to charge it.

Works good. last at least 20hours on a good charge. Will start to run down if you have consecutive cloudy days.

    • Have to keep turning on
Would not produce enough air for two stones sent with the unit. Adequate bubbles from one stone. unfortunately you need to push the button each day in order for the unit to turn on. I think the battery diesn't last long. won't produce enough air to sustain fish during a power outage.
