Levi's is a pretty reliable brand and known for their excellent workmanship and durability. These shorts are a steal at this price. The waist fits to size as shown. A few things to keep in mind: 1) They are NOT lightweight (they weren't advertised as such). Somewhere between a light and medium weight, so for very hot days, especially physical activity, these may not be the right choice. Otherwise the fabric is sturdy and a nice smooth texture that doesn't feel cheap against your skin. 2) The shorts are much longer than I anticipated, so be prepared to hoist them up higher above your hips (with an army belt) so that the bottom doesn't cover part of your knees. 3) The front cargo pockets come with snaps at either end, but they are almost impossible to snap shut even if you force them. Not the best design but better than a velcro swatch in the middle. Since I only put items of little value in there (bandanas, masks, etc.) it's not a big deal. The pockets are deep enough that nothing will fall out of them.

I marked 4s for "Lightweight" because they are not lightweight nylon. They are cotton, and I don't think meant to be "lightweight," like fast drying hiking shorts might be. The size does run large, so if you want to feel good about still wearing a 32 waist, get these. The label will say 32 but they'll accommodate you if you've matured to a 33. Belt loops are plenty large, so if they are too loose, a belt works just fine. Pockets all good size-wise. I'm good with the snaps under the flap for the cargo pockets because Velcro... Totally sick of Velcro sticking to lots of things you might want to put in and remove from those pockets. I did mark a 4 out of 5 for durability because what do I know? They seem totally durable, but for all I know they'll start falling apart in a couple months. Probably not, but...

These are nice and rugged, yet very comfortable and stylish for cargo shorts (lol). I agree with what other reviewers noted about the fit being a little tighter than pants and shorts of the same size, so consider going up a size or go the “try before you buy” route. I go up and down in weight a bit sometimes, so I ended up buying them in two sizes. The pockets are very functional and the stitching is strong. I like that the material has that kind of military/industrial musician aesthetic, too.

On sale it was a good value, comfortable, and the rip stop texture is just a bit of faint checkerboarding. It does lack the utility second layer zip pockets of classic bulky cargo shorts or extra deepo main pockets, but for light and casual its fine.

I bought the khaki and liked it so much I ordered the Navy blue. They're made of sturdy cotton. The fit in the waist is perfect and they come just to my knees. The pockets are deep enough and the snaps on the front pockets are clever.

I'm not sure what is the advantage of elastic on a short. What I really like is the practicality of having normal plus extra large pockets. Fits perfectly in my size 36.

Went to go buy again and realized we had these for 2 years, they started to get a couple holes and we wanted to replace with the same shorts but the color was unavailable. These were work shorts and worn 2-4 times a week in the summer in a shop. Here's some pics to show the condition AFTER 2 YEARS! Hope this will be helpful for future buyers!
