The scooter gives me an error code after a week of use, and there is no feedback from customer service. The control feels unstable. The brakes are almost useless. The range is usually about 50% of what is advertized, at best scenario I can get about 24km. When in lock mode, there is no audible alarm when people try to move it.

This is my first electric scooter and my review is not based on experiences with any other brand. The Leqismart A8 arrived well-packaged and assembly was simple (5 minutes). The battery was mostly charged (> 50%), tires were pressurized, and downloading the app on iOS was very straightforward. Syncing with the A8 and going through the settings for speed, power, lights, etc. were also easy. The A8 seems well-constructed and more than sturdy enough for me at 160 lbs. As mentioned elsewhere the handle is not height adjustable and only folds for transport. At under 40 lbs, putting it in the trunk was not a problem. Since this was my first experience with an electric scooter I initially was apprehensive but the A8 proved to be stable and easy to learn. Within 5 minutes I was trying the highest speed and acceleration. At 15 mph the A8 is a lot of fun and practical although probably not enough for thrill-seekers. Starting at around 97%, the battery was still above 50% after an hour of testing on flat ground. The details in the app are very useful, including battery level, run time, range left, distance travelled. The controls on the A8 itself are well thought out: long press for on/off, 1 press for head-light, 2 quick-presses for max. speed, 3 quick-presses for mph or km/h. The A8 can be locked (fortified) from the app, which locks up the wheel and should deter theft. Overall I think this is a great scooter and value. However I took off one overall star because the charger gets quite hot and I do not yet know about the A8's long-term reliability. The charger is UL listed and CE certified, but I would still be careful using this charger, especially unattended and in an enclosed space.

Why Leqismart A8 - This Leqismart A8 caught my eye while shopping for an electric scooter. I was looking for one that has at least 20+ miles per charge. After comparing the Leqismart with similar priced scooters, I felt that this one offered more features and looked a lot better. So, I ended up purchasing 2, one for myself and one for my wife. Arrival - When they arrived, I was surprised on how big they were. They look like the same size as the ones you can rent, with the same sturdy quality. I almost got the black version, but got sold on the white because it looked great in the photos. The white doesn't get as dirty as I've thought and if anything does splash onto it, it easily wipes off. The scooters does have some heft to it. Okay for short distances (like lifting it into the trunk of the car) but I can't see carrying it for a long time. Prep - Prepping the scooter for our first ride only consist of fully charging the scooter and putting air in the tires. The scooter was pretty much fully assembled and just needed the handle bar screwed in. Everything you need was inside the box. Charging didn't take long since it already had 3/5 to 4/5 bars. My kill-a-watt meter measured 90 watts was being used while charging. We made sure the tires were aired to the correct tire pressure. Out of the box they were between 12-20 psi. The instructions recommended 45-50 psi. The Ride - The scooter itself doesn't have any shock absorbers, so having air filled tires really helped with having a smooth ride. We both started using the scooter on M mode which limited the speed to 9 mph. This is also the mode that you want to use to get the max range advertised. This was the important part for me or anyone with range anxiety. I found that this scooter surprisingly gave me accurate range. I'm 185 lbs and the wife is much lighter. She of course showed a bit more percentage of battery life when compared to mine. We used Google to track how far we went and compared it to with what range was left on the scooter. When you first turn on the scooter it will briefly tell you how many miles the battery charge is good for. H mode it's probably where you're going to have the most fun. This is where you can feel faster acceleration and reach the scooters top speed of 15 mph. It does come at a cost of some max range, but worth it for a fun ride. At first I thought the 15 mph might feel slow, but after experiencing it, I think it's a decent speed for a scooter. The dual brake system on this scooter feels decent. Just looking at the scooter you would only notice the disc break on the rear, but there's another brake involved where it uses the motor to help slow down the scooter and regen the battery. I think it would be great if the brake system was entirely electronic, but I'm sure there's a reason why they added the disc brake. The lighting on this scooter really looks cool and helps make you visible. The side lights use the built-in gyroscope to detect when you're turning and blinks in the direction, which I thought was neat. The rear red light flashes the moment you start using the brakes. Interesting enough the scooter on L mode will make the side/board lights flash. L mode suppose to be walking speed, so I guess it helps you if you end up having to use the sidewalk in some areas. The App - I have an Android phone and was able to download the app via the Google Play store with no issue. I did my first ride without the app, and end up installing it right after. Using the app gave me the ability to see the battery level, range left, active time riding, total mileage on the scooter (odometer). It also gives me the ability to digitally lock the scooter, adjust the speed limits for each mode, set the energy recovery strength, remove the need to push start the scooter, and update the firmware. Conclusion - As of this review, we've done 8.5miles on this scooter and we both love it. Everything is as advertised and we have yet to encounter any issues. Every time we ride around we always get people asking about it. We never thought it would attract so much attention. Great product!
