Excellent construction. Only the top 1/3rd rotates, reducing the chance of loosening at base and for me, perfect for bed side reading. I like that power switch is at base, easier to turn on/off. As stated, does not come with a bulb. Understandable as could be damaged in shipment. I found the best bulb is a 40w LED. I use the FEIT ELECTRIC ENCHANCE, which uses only 5w's of power and actually lights up the entire room. It does not heat up the lamp and it states a two pack can last up to 22 years.
