  • Honestly Suprised
I did not expect to receive the quality of product I was sent for such a low price! The product description is spot on, it comes with Windows 7 Pro SP1, 8GB DDR3 RAM, and a lightning fast Intel Core i5 clocked at 2.5ghz. This isn't something that you should expect in a laptop that ships for a little over $300! The overall product build is sturdy, very few visible light scratches on the case, and all the pixels on the display seem to be in working order. I don't often review products, but considering this was my first go at a refurbished laptop I couldn't be more happy! I highly recommend the Thinkpad T420 from Park Deals. Update 2/1/2016: I've had this Thinkpad for awhile and it still works perfectly, I opted to switch to a 128GB SSD that really makes this laptop fly for $50,. The one issue I came across was that the internal microphone didn't work, but after updating the driver from Lenovo's website it works again. I'm considering upgrading the RAM to 16GB, I heard it takes 1333mhz 204-pin SODIMM, I might give it a try, but this thing still is a fast computer with 8GB of RAM and the only thing I think it lacks is a Dedicated Graphics Card, but for a little over $300 I can go without it for most practical applications. ... show more

  • A machine for people who a disgusted by thin laptops
I wanted a laptop that would make a satisfying "thud" when I'd put it on the table at my local coffee shop -- a "thud" that would say to the college students near me, "Hey kid! Get your effete little MacBook with your pointless cat videos and pictures of your food away from me!". I also wanted a laptop with a REAL KEYBOARD. Not some ineffectual little chicklet keyboard, but a real one whose keys make a satisfying "bang" when you're using vim. And don't even talk to me about back-lit keyboards! If you can shine a light through your keyboard, then that just means that your keyboard is a piece of junk. This laptop delivers. Sure, it's very slightly slower than the most modern i5 processors, but the performance penalty is minimal. And for $320, it's a steal. Unlike MacBooks (which I despise), it's trivial to upgrade the hard drive (or replace the optical drive with a hard drive), and it's also trivial to upgrade the memory. Despite the fact that this laptop is rated to only 8 gigs of memory, it looks like it can easily be upgraded to 16 for about a hundred bucks. My machine came on-time and in excellent condition. It's got a few tiny scratches, but the keyboard, screen, trackpad, and everything else are perfect. The battery does not perform like a brand-new battery, but that's not a surprise. It actually works quite a bit better than I had expected. I'll eventually upgrade the battery, but I'm in no rush. The only drawback to owning a refurbished laptop is the knowledge that the machine used to run Windows. I took a vow in 1995 that I would never use Windows again, and I'd insist on installing Linux on any machine I owned. I immediately booted this laptop to a USB drive with Ubuntu, so at least I know that *I* never ran Windows on this laptop. My conscience is clear. But still, it makes me sad that its hard drive once held a proprietary operating system. My laptop's name is "Gort". I like Gort. I'd recommend Gort to anyone who feels embarrassed for people who use wimpy little laptops. ... show more

  • Great value (used) Lenovo Thinkpad. True to sellers description
This USED Lenovo Thinkpad is a great computer. I purchased it for my elderly mother for a couple of reasons: Windows7 is more familiar, outstanding keyboard, rugged, and reliable. She only uses it for the Internet. I've owned 3 of these in the past at my work and they continually prove to be reliable for > 4 years. The only reason why i didn't give it 5 stars is because the screen had a few small scratches on it that appeared like a couple of dead pixels. Otherwise, a great used laptop and true to the sellers description. Seemed to have a fresh Windows7 installation with no unnecessary bloatware! Only had a licensed version of Windows7 and a few small Lenovo utilities. Clean setup and simple. I set it up for her with the basics: Firefox, Skype, CCleaner, Picasa3, and TeamViewer (so I can control it remotely to help her with it). She's had it for 4 weeks now and is thrilled! Would purchase again. ... show more

  • Very satisfied
I needed to upgrade to a newer laptop; my old Toshiba was getting slow as hell and unreliable. I looked around on Amazon for new laptops but many were either too weak or too expensive for what I was looking for. My friend recommended that I try a refurbished laptop from Lenovo and specifically this "T420" that he said many people were praising. I was hesitant since it was a refurbished but I looked into it anyways. I noticed based on the specs that if it came to me in good condition that I would have a solid computer. The only thing that I wanted to change and did indeed change was swapping the hard drive that it came with for a Crucial 250GB SSD that I got on here for ~$100. I ordered it even though I noticed a couple of recent reviews were having problems, either with fans or touchpad malfunctions etc.; there were many more pleased customers than unhappy ones. Still, I was nervous that I might have gotten a faulty computer that I might be needing to send back. Once I got it, I swapped the hard drive with my new SSD, loaded Windows 10, and set up dual-boot with Ubuntu. This thing is great. Much faster than my old laptop. The keyboard is funky and a little different than I'm used to, but once you get used to it, you'll like it's layout. I guess I was lucky as some people reported having worn out keys or dysfunctional ones but my keyboard feels new. There are almost no aesthetic blemishes barring one piece that was chipped off the very front. It's hardly noticeable and not a big deal at all. This thing runs quiet and doesn't get hot. For this price, I don't think you can get a better laptop. Just do what I did and swap the hard drive with an SSD and you'll have a computer that boots up in less than 10 seconds easily. ... show more
