Style: Tablet
The **Lenovo Tab P12** is a mid-range tablet that offers a blend of performance, display quality, and accessory support, making it suitable for entertainment, productivity, and casual gaming. Here's a detailed overview: **Pros:** 1. **Large, High-Resolution Display:** The Tab P12 features a 12.7-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2944 x 1840 pixels. This expansive display is ideal for watching movies, reading, and multitasking. citeturn0search0 2. **Solid Performance:** Equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor, the tablet delivers reliable performance for everyday tasks and moderate gaming. It comes with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM, depending on the storage variant, ensuring smooth multitasking. citeturn0search3 3. **Comprehensive Accessory Support:** The Tab P12 supports the Lenovo Tab Pen Plus stylus, which is included in the box. The stylus offers 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, enhancing note-taking and drawing experiences. Additionally, the optional Lenovo Keyboard Pack provides a magnetic docking keyboard with a touchpad and cover, improving productivity for typing-intensive tasks. citeturn0search1 4. **Long Battery Life:** With a substantial 10,200mAh battery, the Tab P12 offers impressive battery life, lasting up to 10 hours of continuous use, such as video playback. citeturn0search5 5. **Premium Build Quality:** The tablet boasts a metal frame with a dual-tone finish, providing a premium look and feel. Its dimensions and weight (615g) contribute to a substantial in-hand feel, though it may be heavier than some competitors. citeturn0search6 **Cons:** 1. **Shorter Battery Life Under Intensive Use:** While the battery performs well under typical usage, intensive tasks like gaming can drain the battery more quickly. For example, playing graphically demanding games can reduce battery life significantly in a short period. citeturn0search5 2. **Limited High-End Gaming Performance:** Although capable of handling casual games, the Tab P12 may struggle with high-end gaming at maximum settings. Users may need to adjust graphics settings for smoother gameplay. citeturn0search2 3. **Absence of High Refresh Rate Display:** The tablet's display is limited to a 60Hz refresh rate, which may be noticeable when scrolling or during fast-paced content compared to devices with higher refresh rates. citeturn0search6 4. **Fingerprint Sensor Reliability:** Some users have reported issues with the reliability of the side-mounted fingerprint sensor, with occasional failures to recognize fingerprints. citeturn0search8 5. **Lack of 3.5mm Audio Jack:** The Tab P12 does not include a 3.5mm headphone jack, which may be inconvenient for users who prefer wired headphones without relying on adapters or Bluetooth connectivity. citeturn0search6 **Conclusion:** The Lenovo Tab P12 offers a compelling combination of a large, high-resolution display, solid performance, and accessory support, making it a suitable choice for users seeking a versatile tablet for entertainment and productivity. However, potential buyers should consider its limitations in battery life under intensive use, gaming performance, and the absence of certain features like a high refresh rate display and a 3.5mm audio jack. ... show more

  • Awesome Android
Style: Tablet
This Lenovo Android tablet is getting on. The P12 is over 2 years old now. I was a little hesitant at first as I worried about it being dated and slower performing, but it's been great and still one of the best options in this price range. It came as a bundle with a case cover and stylus. Both are nicely designed and work well. The tablet has a premium finish and looks great. It's not the lightest or thinnest tablet in the market but it doesn't need to be for my needs. The screen, even though it's not AMOLED looks great. The resolution is 3K and it looks super sharp. Colors are warm and realistic. Watching content is a delight. The audio is very clear and crisp, though it does lack bass. There are 4 speakers, with two on either side in landscape mode. The audio is even better with high quality wireless headphones and earbuds. The only downside to the tablet from my POV is that it's running Android 14 and Lenovo won't be updating it to 15. I don't really have an issue with that but it's worth pointing out if you want those future updates. Lenovo have committed to security updates until 2028. For $330 I think this is an absolute bargain and i'm very happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • Large, Speedy Tablet but a little heavy
Style: Tablet
Was looking for a tablet with a large screen (12.7 inches in more than large enough) that would also be speedy enough for doing things such as reading child bedtime stories, comics, media streaming & occasional note taking during meetings. Since receiving & using, I have found this tablet also suitable for other things such as managing a remote server and accessing my kid's PCs remotely. The fact that it came included with a stylus & folio case was a bonus as I prefer using stylus on screens (I hate fingerprints and marks on screens) & a folio case is my preferred case style as it usually doesn't add much thickness to the device. The only cons for me are that I wish the tablet was just maybe half an inch smaller as its just barely too big to fit in a specific pocket of my crossbody sling bag that I use for my electronics when traveling but I already figured that would be the case before I bought it as I tested with my child's 11 inch tablet before I purchased. It is also a little on the heavy side especially for one handed holding, but my work around to that is to flip the case as if I was going to use it as a stand & then just grip the triangle it forms. The second con is that the tablet has these magnetic pins on one end for a specific keyboard to attach to it. The issue is that that specific keyboard appears to have been discontinued as I have search everywhere I could for it & can't find it anywhere, not even on Lenovo's own site. It bug me almost enough to deduct a star. If anyone knows where I can find that specific Lenovo keyboard please advise ... show more

  • Great tablet
Style: Tablet
I was looking for a tablet to replace my old Samsung A7 tab. This tablet blow's it away. Here are a few of the things that I was looking for that this tablet was above expectations. Start up: one of the things that really annoyed me about my Samsung tablet was how long it took to load after I pressed the start button. The Lenovo, 3 second hold and less than 20 seconds to start up. A big upgrade I my book for this. Every review I looked at no one ever mentions the difference in time some tablets take to load Next, performance: depending on your computer knowledge the reviews will give you all the technical jargon for comparisons to other tablet performance. For those not interested in all that, for me this tablet performs well above what I need. Documents load with no problems. I inserted an sd card with MP3 music, no need for a third party player unless you want one. Plays music an videos smoothly. Display: the display is very crisp and sharp compared to my old tablet This does have a slot for a micro SD card which is what I was looking for. Lastly, although it does not come with an external keyboard, the included case has a cutout for the s pen and doubles as a stand which is very nice. As for the pen, real easy to connect to the tablet anyway d just as responsive as my daughters apple pen on her air pad tablet. Lastly for some the 12.7 screen may be too big but I actually like it. It really is almost like having another portable laptop. All in all for the price, and performance this tablet is a great buy. I had been searching for something other than Samsung and Apple and this was a great alternative. ... show more

  • What a surprise!
Style: Tablet
I've had several Samsung tablets and liked them all. But I finally got really tired of them going obsolete and requiring a replacement to run the newer apps. My previous Samsung stopped updates at Android Ver.5 (Marshmallow I think). This Lenovo P12 came with Android 13 but updated to Android 14 right away. To be honest, it's mostly the software that "makes" a tablet, and Android 14 is fast and easy. The good: It does not take a back seat to the much more expensive tablets. They all run the same apps and the latest software. The GREAT!: It's a fraction of the cost of a new "top line" tablet but offers all the functionality and durability as they do. Sure, this one might become obsolete in a few short years, but at this price, I will happily buy this Lenovo's successor and not complain one bit. The not so great: The pen is fine, but there is no place to store it in the tablet like the Samsung did. However, that is a small detail that I can overlook considering the price of the tablet. I carry the tablet in a case that has a pen loop that works just fine. Highly recommended for people who've paid close to $1000 or more for a tablet that goes obsolete way too soon and are tired of the merry-go-round of obsolescence. ... show more

  • Not Perfect, But Getting Close
Style: Tablet
I do a lot of review and report writing on the move and I use tablets instead of laptops, mainly for portability. After all, other than the portability factor, many laptops don’t have rear facing cameras and often lack sufficient battery life to justify lugging them around all day. My last go-to tablet was an original iPad Pro 12.7 incher from nearly a decade ago (I got it secondhand) and it was definitely in the class that might be called “beater”. Long unsupported and abandoned by Apple, it worked only in the sense that some apps still opened and I might be able to squeak out a couple hours of battery life. So, I went shopping for a new version. Over $500 for a 2020 refurbished version with an Iffy battery? Not likely. Even the base iPad 10.9 inch was running dangerously close to $500 with 128GB storage (the minimum I require) and still doesn’t come with a micro-SD card slot and an Apple pen is over $100 extra (although quite a few knock-offs can be found for under $20). And don’t get me started on the $1,000+ for a new iPad Pro. Fat chance I’ll be buying any of those. What about Windows tablets? Same issue there. $500 to $1,300 for a tablet that more owners swear at than swear by? No thanks. So, Android was back on the table. I mention that with some trepidation since my last 3 no-name Android tablets went back to the sellers due to wonky behavior and, in one spectacular case, a nasty tendency to overheat and warp. But this is Lenovo, the company once known as IBM. Surely their tablets are better, right? We shall find out. Pricing seems to be fairly uniform across most sites - about $250 for a unit without pen or folio and $290 or so for the folio and pen included. Give or take, half the price of a used iPad Pro, yet substantially less than a new, standard iPad 10.9. And about $1,000 less than a new iPad Pro. For that price you get a 12.7 IPS LED screen pushing roughly 400 nits, 13MP and 8MP cameras, 128GB UFS storage and 8GB LPDDR4 RAM. Resolution is stated at 2929 x 1840 which is not too far off from the iPad Pro’s 2952 x 2064. Plus a micro-SD card slot, thank you! And, in this case, I also got the cover and pen, too! And the USB-C port pulls double duty as a charger connection and data transfer point, too (haven’t played with that yet, though). Then I noticed something else that I glossed over initially - quad JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos assist. Not shabby! Decent bass and sound reproduction without the distortion. Although the ad states Android 13 is included, mine had 14 already installed. Now comes the interesting part, do you accept a transfer of apps from an existing device or start new? How about neither? This is what I discovered while trying to set this up: * Bloatware galore, including a really intrusive TikTok app that kept displaying unwanted ads left and right. * Count on deleting around 15 or so apps that qualify as bloatware. Most are kiddy oriented including games of dubious quality. If you can’t remove them, try your best to disable them under Settings. * If you install your own apps before deleting these you’re in for a world of headaches, mainly because your apps will be intermingled with the bloatware and you’ll have to pick and choose. Do yourself a favor and set this up without your Google account, delete what you don’t want, and then go back and install your apps. I did like that I had various options for security including password, fingerprint and facial recognition, although facial recognition never worked. That feature didn’t work much at all on any Android tablet I tried. Give it up Google. I find the inclusion of kiddy software unusual for this tabet considering it’s clearly an adult tool. Give this monster to a kid and cry when it hits the floor a couple minutes later. There are a few apps worth mentioning and keeping: * MyScript Calculator2. Change your handwritten math problems into solved versions. Surprisingly accurate given my lousy scribble. * NEBO. Changes handwriting into readable script. Any failures I encountered here can be traced back to me and my scrawl that would make any doctor proud. * WPS Office. Sure, I use Google Workspace, but it can’t hurt to have a backup. Of note, this is a premium version so you’ll have to pony up $36 yearly to continue after the free trial or fall back to the free version. * Freestyle. Allows the tablet to communicate with another computer. Since my main computer is a Chromebook this might present an issue, right? After all, they are picky as to the apps accepted. Turns out Freestyle is available for the Chromebook. Hallelujah! After installation is done and I can use apps, what I discovered about the battery life is pretty much as I expected. With dark mode activated, I was getting about 8 to 9 hours on this tablet and that was playing online videos, chatting, etc. Now on to the included accessories. Both the cover and pen are functional, there’s no doubt about that, but the cover is minimal and gives great emphasis on a place to park the pen when not in use. Issue there is that the pen holder is on the back and that creates a hump. No easy way of laying this tablet flat. Making the situation worse, the pen holder doesn’t actually hold the pen more than it keeps it in a stable position. The pen itself is held to the case by magnets and weak ones at that. Count on dropping that pen on a daily basis. As for the pen itself, it works just fine but it’s an expensive proposition (around $50) to replace although generics do exist for far less. Personally, I won’t use it much but it’s nice to know it’s there. Worth noting, the capacitive nature of the Lenovo pen is different from the Apple version so attempting to use an Apple style pen on this tablet may be a no-go, as it was in my case. Curiously, even though this Lenovo and the iPad Pro share nearly identical size specs, this model weighs 1.36 pounds compared to the 1.50 for the iPad Pro. You can probably guess the liberal use of plastic in the Lenovo explains that weight difference but, either way, this is still a rather hefty slab of electronics. It might be unfair to compare this to my old iPad from a decade ago, but this monster is snappy even compared to my better half’s new iPad. Plus, I now have a phone, tablet and computer that can communicate with each other. While my iPad was a faithful companion, it just never played nice with Android counterparts. As for pricing, you really can’t complain when you get this much for just slightly over $300 with tax (possibly less with upcoming holidays). And, if you don’t mind ditching the pen and cover, you can possibly get it for $250 or less. ... show more

Style: Tablet
Clear, crisp video quality. Good audio. Quick start up. Was able to transfer all information from my phone with great ease. Decent size screen. Does it come with a bunch of pre-installed apps? Sure. That's how things work at this point. It took all of 15 minutes to uninstall and disable anything I didn't need. Love it for reading, watching videos, and the occasional internet search. Has many other capabilities in case I want to do more in the future. Decent battery life even without battery saver on, which is an option that doesn't greatly impact performance.. Quick connection to wifi and bluetooth. Perfect functions for my needs. ... show more

Style: Tablet
Pretty decent tablet and a good value. It did not come with a keyboard but it did come with a rechargeable pen and case. The case is my only issue because once you install a screen protector the case won't close fully, this causes the the screen to turn on and off because the magnet or proxy sensor or whatever is used to tell the tablet it's closed doesn't register. After many months of use I just use the power button to put it to sleep. Other than that I'm very happy with it. ... show more
