  • Big Disappointment
RAM Size: 2 GB Hard Disk Size: 32
This tablet has pretty decent hardware, but the OS and software that you are forced to use are junk. First off, the display is good, the speed is good, the battery life is fair. It has a usb-c connector for charging and data transfer. A usb charger is not included, but they do include a usb to usb-c adapter cable that you can plug into your computer. They include a speaker that can also charge the tablet with an included DC adapter. More on that later. I already have a phone with android 9, so I assumed that this would be a breeze. Wrong. Turning on the tablet for the first time, it forces you to accept their EULA or they wont let you operate your brand new $100 tablet. Part of that says that you consent to mandatory updates of system files. The problem with that is that anytime a manufacturer has a mandatory update like that, its sole purpose is not to fix your bugs or enhance your security, but rather to include internal malware that runs your battery down, slows everything down that used to run fast, or stops your tablet/phone/computer from operating properly. Samsung and Apple both got caught doing this, but only got a slap on the wrist. These special updates only come after the warranty expires. So the first thing I had to do is download a firewall and block all the lenovo upgrade addresses. There is no other way to disable forced updates. I will be blocking those addresses on my home router as well. These are reportedly download.lenovo.com, but blocking *.lenovo.com is probably better. On the bottom of the screen is a < and a --------------. The < seems to work like the left pointing triangle on my phone. On my phone, the square icon pops up a list of running programs. There is no square icon on the Lenovo tablet. It doesn't come with a user manual to explain why either. The long bar icon does random things, but mostly pops up google assistant. Sometimes it pops up the list of running programs. And other times it switches either to the main screen or to the previously running program. Convoluted at best. If you start a youtube video and then press <, it doesn't stop the video or youtube and they continue to play on the home page. You can't shut down the app. On my phone, there is a little X you can hit, but not on the tablet. if you don't do anything, it will keep running until the battery runs down. It turns out that you can swipe up from the bottom and sometimes that will give you the running apps. Other times it will give you the installed apps and other times you get google assistant. You just have to keep doing it until you get the running apps list. Once you get those, you can swipe up on them and it will hopefully terminate that app. Now about those fancy speakers. They are junk. They wont work without a prime account. It literally comes up and says its not going to let you use the speakers without entering your amazon password. Considering these speakers that I paid for come with so much red tape, they will likely go in the trash. A pair of no-name bluetooth speakers would likely do a lot better without all the drama. Lenovo if you are reading this, understand that I don't like it when people bully me. Get rid of those EULA's and mandatory system updates. And make those bluetooth speakers work unconditionally. If you treat me like crap, then don't expect me to buy any future products from you. UPDATE: I did cave and allow it to update to android 10. The good part is that the super confusing long bar at the bottom is gone and replaced with the standard triangle, circle , square icons. The bad news is that updating to android 10 broke the voice recognition so that saying "New Paragraph" actually prints "New Paragraph" instead of advancing the cursor to the next paragraph. Same with "New Line". I would also say that the battery life is really poor. I get about 2 hours of screen time before it has to be recharged. And that's with battery saver permanently turned on. It will go about a 2 days just sitting on the table turned off. ... show more

  • Wow!
RAM Size: 4 GB Hard Disk Size: 128
Looks great, sounds pretty good, nice battery life, but it's not quite what I expected. Setup right out of the box is nothing but update after update. It probably took me about 2 hours before I could fully use it between the tablet updating from Pie to Q, the dock itself updating, and all of Google's apps... Took a while but worked out. This is a beautiful display. Shame about that Widevine DRM, though. No HD Disney+, Netflix, or Vudu here. No sir/ma'am. BUT... HBOMax, Prime Video, Movies Anywhere, Google TV/Play Movies & TV, and YouTube (if your digital collection is connected to Movies Anywhere) will all play in 1080p without a hitch. In fact, it'll jump to 1080p in seconds, with little to no buffering. Overall speed of the tablet is silky smooth. I recommend turning on Developer Options and disabling animations. (You honestly don't need them on any Android device, they're just a needless pretty thing that eats up performance.) The dock is impressive in its feature set, even if the sound is just okay. It's a Bluetooth speaker, it's a speakerphone, it's a charging cradle/Alexa Show display, and it does all of these things well. There are two, not four (some listings will say this incorrectly) 3w speakers in it. The rest of the body is housing for the logic board and the hollowness (doesn't feel that way) gives it a passive radiator-like feel to the sound. (It's room-filling sound, btw.) This brings us back to the sound (overall) and I have to say it's...okay. Either in the dock (which sounds leaps and bounds better than the tablet speakers, of course.) or the speakers in the tablet, even with Dolby Atmos baked in (controllable via app). I will say the sound separation on the tablet is much better than that of the dock. If nothing else, you'll at least get a basic Atmos experience out of it. (It's better than no Atmos at all!) You can't use all four speakers at once, unfortunately. Believe me, I tried. lol I'd say the specs are on par with Amazon's own Fire HD tablets, and the only thing they're really missing is the Lenovo dock. (I mean, they have Atmos baked in, a gorgeous screen, dual speakers (for channel separation), and they have proper Widevine DRM which makes a world of difference on a screen this size and quality. Although, this has one thing the Fire doesn't (aside from the dock) ...the full Dolby Atmos version of Amazon Music Unlimited in the app. The Fire has a custom version installed like bloatware that only offers Ultra HD and 3D and not all the time. (And yes, there's an audible difference.) Do I recommend this? Well, if you're into Alexa, want a lovely dock/Show Mode device, and are okay with jumping through hoops to get your videos in 1080p, with okay Atmos, then yes. If you're willing to skip the dock and you're fine with Ultra HD/3D instead of Atmos, then you should save the money and go wth the Fire HD 10 Plus. (Yes, it's absolutely worth the extra money with 4GB of RAM in it.) I think this tablet had a lot of promise, I think the Widevine issue was a bad case of dropping the ball just before the goal. So close, yet so far. Still...a very nice Lenovo tablet, pretty all the way around. ... show more

  • Great addition
RAM Size: 4 GB Hard Disk Size: 128
This is my 3rd Lenovo Alexa pad. I have 2 in my home and 1 at my country house. I am a big Alexa enthusiast and use it for everything. This Lenovo pad I have in my kitchen so when I need to watch tv I connect to my cable provider app and voila I have a small tv while I work on the counter. I also have taken the pad out of the speaker base and used as a pad and have taken it with me to a friends house. I connected to my hotspot and again I had my Alexa w me. FYI this pad does NOT work w an Alexa group and the other Alexas you may have in your home if you play music. ( I have about 5 Alexas connected as a group for music throughout the house ). That is the only downside to the pad but then again that is an amazon choice of been proprietary with their own Alexa products. As a standalone pad with Alexa this one is just superb. I have it scrolling beautiful images. Highly recommend it. ... show more

La mejor inversión o compra que he hecho para mi hija, la usa a diario y ningún problema. Es súper rápida, fácil de usar, y cómoda. Maravilloso sonido cuando está conectada con la bocina que trae incluida y sin ella.
