  • Excellent computer
Capacity: 32GB RAM | 1TB SSD
I've been using it for video editing, gaming, and sound engineering (this with an external interface), and so far, it's excellent.

Capacity: 64GB RAM | 2TB SSD + 2TB SSD
I really like this machine. It is powerful apparently too powerful for the games that I am using it for. But if there is a game out there that needs that power, I will at least have it. It does how ever get very hot and fast. I didn't have a cooling fan for the first few days of gaming. But once I did get a cooling pad, I never noticed it after that. ... show more

  • Safely delivered next Gen Laptop
Capacity: 32GB RAM | 2TB SSD
My sons review This laptop can do more than the current generation PS5 with better graphics and Ray Tracing. The package arrived safe and sound. It works like a dream after a week of stress testing and play. Also it comes with a year warranty. They need to find easier ways to optimize PCVR through DLSS though. Absolutely 💯 happy with this purchase. ... show more

I'm extremely pleased with the laptop—it runs perfectly, and I couldn't be happier with it. Not a single complaint! Additionally, I'm impressed by the excellent protection during shipping. ProPrime has been an outstanding third-party seller. They're a fantastic company that communicates effectively with customers. I'll definitely be returning to shop with them in the future! Capacity: 64GB RAM | 2TB SSD + 2TB SSD
Updated. I bought this originally to work on. But loved the specs in it when I chose it. It started out decent without any problems. The specs are better than in my desktop yet this laptop CANNOT run any game I have tried to play without crashing out. Is unable to run cod, mw3, fortnite or chivalry 2. I've had it play the binding of Isaac repentance and not crash somehow. But basically any other game I have attempted to play on this it will crash out the game and give me some bs reason as to why. ... show more

  • Only place with these specs
Capacity: 64GB RAM | 2TB SSD + 2TB SSD
As a game developer I put a high priority on things like RAM, CPU, and storage space. Moreso than a gamer or the typical laptop user. This was the only place I could find a laptop with a decent graphics card that had a great CPU, 64GB RAM and 4TB storage. I've been using the laptop for a few months now and I'm pleased with it. The keyboard is decent and all of the third party RAM/SSD upgrades are legit from what I can tell. I opted for the 5i over the 7 because honestly the only difference was the metal face plate from what I could tell and that wasn't worth the extra few hundred bucks. ... show more

  • A True Dream Machine - but buyer beware…
Capacity: 64GB RAM | 2TB SSD + 2TB SSD
Background: I am a software test engineer (or rather, a software QA professional) of over 7 years, an avid gamer of over 25 years, and a technology enthusiast as long as I’ve been living on this planet. I thought it was important to share some of my background to give you some idea why my opinion on a gaming laptop is worth anything. With that out of the way, let’s get on to the review. What is the absolute dream a customer holds in their heart when shopping for a specialized gaming laptop? It’s a simple wish, but one which has historically been incredibly difficult - if not impossible - to achieve. Customers shopping for a gaming laptop are looking for a machine which meets the following criteria: • Can easily run either the latest games, or one particular favorite game, at the ideal visual settings for sustained periods of time. • Is powerful enough to last for a minimum of 2-3 years • Is portable enough to feasibly travel with. In general, many gaming laptops on the market tend to fall short in at least one of these areas. Then, if a particular gaming laptop meets all these criteria, it can reasonably be considered a dream machine; I don’t think any gamers reading this will disagree. I’m here to tell you, straight up: this laptop, the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i with 64GB of RAM and 4TB of total storage, meets every single one of those criteria, and makes it look easy. It runs games like a dream. This laptop can run even the most recent, demanding games at staggering levels of visual detail, at high resolutions, with a beautiful 165hz display (though it’s worth noting the display does not support HDR - perhaps the one significant drawback). I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying the recent Baldur’s Gate 3 on this laptop, and I’m able to crank every single setting to the max while running at the laptop’s native resolution. I’m able to play Final Fantasy 7 Remake at levels of visual fidelity which could make the PS5 version blush, at a buttery smooth 90ish FPS. I can run my personal most important game, Final Fantasy XIV, at maximum resolution and detail with plenty of GPU power left to handle very resource-intensive shader plugins and other tools for my virtual photography. Beyond raw performance, I’m even able to take advantage of all the latest GPU innovations from Nvidia: ray tracing, resolution scaling, DLSS, DLAA, and more. I couldn’t ask for more out of the performance of this laptop, and I really can’t imagine any gamer out there who would find this laptop insufficient for their gaming needs; it’s a dream machine. It’s portable enough to travel with, and the laptop itself is surprisingly light and easy to carry even one-handed, but I do have to note a (minor, to me personally) drawback here: the laptop has a hilariously oversized monster of a power brick, and this is significant because - as any laptop gamer knows - superpowerful gaming laptops aren’t exactly well known for having the best battery life. The laptop could easily be carried to a friend’s house for a LAN party, or on a trip for use as a mobile gaming center, but the massive bulk of the power brick is a bit of a bummer and does slightly decrease the portability of the machine. I would suggest that anyone who wants to take this beast of a machine on the road regularly will want to get a nice travel case for it - with room for a large power brick - as soon as possible. Regarding the battery life, regrettably I haven’t been able to spend enough time with the laptop to learn what I can expect from it in this area (read on and you’ll see why). I’ll update this review after I’m able to conduct some testing. As for the price, whether or not this laptop’s asking price can be considerer affordable will be a matter of opinion. No doubt, this is a significant amount of money to spend - but you’re spending it on a significant amount of computer. Put simply, this much power for this low of a price generally just shouldn’t be possible - this is a laptop which performs better than any computer I, a lifelong computer science guy, have ever used. Frankly, it sort of seems too good to be true… and as you’ll read, maybe it *is* too good to be true. And this, dear reader, is where I must turn to the negative side of the review. As you’ll surely have noticed, despite all the praise I’m heaping on this laptop, I’ve only given it a three star review. Why, when I’ve written a small novel about how great this laptop is, would I give this amazing machine anything less than a perfect score? Unfortunately, the answer is that, upon purchasing this laptop, I had unknowingly embarked upon a journey through one of the very worst buying experiences I’ve had as a consumer in my entire life. So, to be abundantly clear before moving on: I am giving the laptop itself above a perfect score, but unfortunately I have no choice but to give the seller, PCOnline, a pretty big thumbs down - and that’s why I can’t in good conscience rate this particular dream machine higher than 3 stars. With that out of the way, let’s get on with the tragic story of disappointment and woe! When I received my shiny new Lenovo, I excitedly got to work installing a huge library of games on the 2nd 2TB drive. This included past favorites from the depths of my Steam library, alongside modern hits such as the aforementioned Baldur’s Gate 3 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Once I had a few good games installed, I eagerly got busy with putting the laptop through its paces. Every PC gaming enthusiast reading this knows that this is a moment we live for: finally firing up our shiny new, perfectly configured, lovingly customized supercomputer and seeing what it can really do after all our careful setup is a rush like few others. That’s why I was beyond dismayed to have each and every game I tested run absolutely flawlessly …for a few minutes before the game’s video output would freeze entirely, then the game would unceremoniously crash, and I mean crash HARD. No matter which game I tried or what settings I tweaked, the behavior persisted: games would run like a dream for a little while, then I’d get a nasty Windows error message mentioning either “device lost” or “device hung,” at which point the game would totally crash - sometimes so badly that my only recourse was to hold the power button until the machine finally turned off, allowing me to regain control. So, after about a solid week of troubleshooting this issue from the software side in every manner imaginable, I determined the issue must be an actual hardware defect and contacted Lenovo about it. They suggested that since I’d just received the new laptop, I should contact the seller - so I did, and that’s where things continued to go terribly wrong. The seller sent me a shipping label to send the laptop back to them (via some painfully slow economy shipping method, because I definitely wasn’t in any rush to get my shiny new $2000+ device working), and my nightmare began. Once the seller’s “repair center” received my laptop (and a detailed document I included, explaining what the issue was, what I’d already tried and how to reproduce the crash, all in great detail - remember, I’m a software QA professional), I had to wait around a week to hear back. Finally, I was told that my laptop was being shipped back to me. At this point I asked what repairs had been done, and my eyes popped out of my head a bit when I received the answer: they’d swapped out the RAM and SSDs in the laptop, but hadn’t touched the motherboard/GPU. This made no sense at all to me, but I noted the odd response and waited eagerly for the laptop to arrive home for the second time. When it finally arrived back home, of course I found that all my hard work setting up the laptop just how I wanted it had been wasted; the (totally unnecessary) new SSDs meant that I needed to reinstall and reconfigure everything before I could even properly get back to testing the laptop to see if the problem was resolved. This wasn’t unexpected, but given the fact that it made no sense at all to swap out the SSDs for no reason in the first place, this did sting. To be clear, though, one should always expect to lose their data (and take backups accordingly) when sending a PC in for repairs. So, once again I setup my dream machine and got to work putting it through its paces with some maxed out Final Fantasy 7 Remake. And, once again, the laptop crashed in spectacular fashion only a few minutes in. The crash was so obvious, and so easily reproducible, that it was blatantly obvious the reseller I’d trusted my expensive new laptop with hadn’t even bothered to put the laptop (with new RAM and SSD or otherwise) through a rudimentary testing process to see if their “repair” had been successful in resolving my easily reproducible issue. Needless to say, I was frustrated beyond belief; at this point I was already frighteningly close to the end of my return window, but I was faced with a unique dilemma - I didn’t want to return this incredible machine, I just wanted it to work. I was faced with a difficult choice at this point: try to return my dream laptop (and probably be subject to a restocking fee), or continue the so-far-fruitless exercise of bashing my head against a cinderblock wall in hopes of making progress with getting my dream laptop to actually work. Ultimately, I decided that this laptop was everything I wanted in my new mobile gaming center, and that it was worth continuing to fight for. And so, I hatched an alternate plan: I’d invest in two years of Lenovo’s very well-rated Ultimate gaming warranty service for the laptop, and almost the same minute that my warranty was approved, I submitted a claim to Lenovo. My ticket described the original issue with crashing, the steps I’d taken in trying to troubleshoot it up to that point (which now included at least a dozen more hours since the laptop had arrived home the second time), and how to reproduce the issue. To say my experience working with Lenovo rather than PCOnline was like night and day is a huge understatement. Within hours of submitting my ticket to Lenovo, I was on a live chat with a technician remote controlling my machine to try some troubleshooting steps (the same steps I’d already tried, so I know she was looking at the right things). After about an hour or so of this, she arrived at the same conclusion I had weeks before: there must be a hardware issue with the laptop. She said that I’d receive a shipping box through FedEx Priority overnight, and though it did not arrive overnight due to the unfortunate timing of the weekend, I did receive a prepaid shipping kit and sent my new laptop to Lenovo the very same day. Upon receiving my laptop, Lenovo got right to work *the very same day they received it*, and the following morning the status of my ticket was updated to “in progress.” Within 24 hours from then, the ticket was updated several more times until finally I received a notification that my laptop repair was complete and would be shipped back to me, also through FedEx priority overnight. With all said and done, my entire repair process with Lenovo took about five business days; contrast that with the roughly two weeks it took for PCOnline to pull their heads out of their mainboards (without even fixing my issue or bothering to test the laptop during that time), and it’s clear there’s no comparison at all! Suffice it to say, I am beyond satisfied with Lenovo’s part in all this; they accepted a system customized by PCOnline (which they could’ve easily turned away due to the non-stock state of my machine) and gave me a brand new motherboard/GPU, and they did it in an impressive timeframe. So, a little over a month after my initial purchase, I’m finally left with the laptop of my dreams, in perfect working condition. To my surprise, not only is the crashing I was seeing now resolved; the laptop actually now performs even better with games than it did before the repair! And now, I’m left with the difficult task of closing out this review. On the one hand, after dealing with all the aforementioned nightmares, I am now the proud owner of what I legitimately believe is one of the most powerful gaming laptops on the market, and I find myself suddenly able to enjoy PC gaming in ways I’ve never experienced! On the other hand, the he process of getting to that point was by far one of the most frustrating, depressing, disappointing experiences I’ve had in my entire adult life. Ultimately, I think that if you’re a gamer in search of an absolute monster of a portable gaming system, you couldn’t do much better than this - especially for the price. However, I’m forced to add some significant qualifiers to that statement: • If you’re considering buying this machine, be aware that the seller, PCOnline, will more or less waste your time and finally tell you to get bent in the event you have any issues. • If you buy this machine and DO encounter such issues, don’t waste your time contacting PCOnline; do what I did, and invest in the Lenovo ultimate warranty service for a couple hundred bucks. The warranty is well worth the low price for the peace of mind you’ll gain, knowing that your expensive gaming laptop is covered in the event of future hardware issues. In conclusion: if you’re looking for the very best in portable PC gaming, this laptop will meet and probably exceed your expectations. However, if you’re uncomfortable dealing with doing your own technical troubleshooting in the event of any issues, or if the process I went through sounds unacceptable to you, you might want to consider looking elsewhere - or at least finding a similar reseller who actually knows their RAM from their GPU. ... show more
