  • Amazing value!
Exactly the laptop I was looking for! I watched it for a while and waited for the price to drop and grabbed one got my wife and myself. The touch screen is responsive and looks good. There are a few reviews complaining and saying the opposite but I don't think that's fair. 1. The resolution (720p) is clearly stated in the description and 2. You shouldn't expect the same type of touch screen you'd get on a laptop twice the price or more. This is an economy laptop, that being said it works great for me. I watch movies(full HDMI port to connect to your tv), play games (not high end games), browse the web and use it in tablet mode to order supplies for my restaurant. Someone also complained that it comes with Windows S mode and was useless; if they actually read what Windows told them when it popped up they would have just followed the link to disable it and get access to a full windows home edition. Battery life is great so far, the keyboard works great. I took the advice from other reviews and added a 256gb m.2 sad and I'm very happy about it! Adding the drive was easy, about as complicated as changing a Sim card in your phone. I followed some instructions online to move my appdata and user data folders to it and noticed a significant speed increase. Note: if you do this and notice that the drive disappears in Windows after the computer goes to sleep, go into the advanced power settings and enable hybrid sleep mode then restart. (Windows glitch) Only negative I can think of is that the RAM is not upgradable but I bet it's hard to find a laptop this size that it would be. Slim usually means soldered together. ... show more

  • Amazing laptop- upgrade SSD
I was so tired of carrying my huge 15.6'' personal laptop (HP) around from college- it felt like a dinosaur. But I wasn't comfortable with how dependent I was on the office laptop (14'' Dell)- especially since all your activities can be tracked/ data can be accessed by your employer. I took a chance and bought this and it's so good I mean I'm pinching myself for not having bought this sooner. It's light, it's beautiful, it's soo fast- boots in 2 seconds. And I can convert it into a tablet with a simple flip of the screen to watch movies plus it has amazing touchscreen- I won't ever go back to a bigger laptop again!!! And it's a fraction of the price from Microsoft's own Surface laptops but IMO every bit as good. One note- The HD is only 64GB so for me, unfortunately because I need to install some heavy apps like Anaconda and SQL, I need more hard drive space. I'm glad that some reviewers mentioned it's upgradable, but the instructions were so sparse (is everyone a tech-savvy nerd now) and I was doing this for the first time, I felt like a fish out of water some times. So I'm writing this down so that some other people like me who need more space can follow along. Remember if you do this, your warranty is voided!! Instructions for upgrading SSD- 1. Open the back of the laptop unscrewing the 10 screws (you will need a screwdriver set- I bought a Husky set from Home Depot) 2. Pry it open carefully starting from the USB Slot and the hinges)- it's glossy so if you don't use the right tool, it can leave a scratch. I bought this tool from Amazon- it worked fantastic-> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PHNMEMC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 3. Now, the laptop has an open M2 port where you can install a M2.2280.SATA SSD. I installed a WD 256 GB one because I like WD, but you can install Adata or even a 500 GB one. I bought it from Amazon. Remember only the M2.2280.SATA will work for this one. 4. In case you have no idea where the M2 port is, or even how to install, you can familiarize yourself first with the motherboard manual. For this particular laptop it's located here (Interestingly Lenovo writes as if a 256G SSD is already installed in the M2.port, I assume they decided later that they'd sell it without one)-> https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/flex6-11igm_hmm_201803.pdf 5. Use a phone flashlight, there's a plastic tape over the port that might make it difficult to slot the SSD in, so I felt like using the flashlight helps 6. Most importantly, after you have slotted the SSD in, you need to screw it on the other side (which nobody has mentioned). You need 1 M2xL3 screw, so yes you have to have an extra one handy (I bought it from Amazon). That's it, you're done!! Use Disk Management to identify the drive (Google it) and format it. For me going through the above steps was a challenge but I can confidently do it in future and it was a fun learning experience. And now I have the storage space that I need. Some people have suggested to clone Windows from the HDD to the SSD and boot from it, Imma gonna leave it where it is, because I'm perfectly happy with the speed and just store all my files/ install any new programs in the new drive. Hope this helps and enjoy your laptop!! ... show more

  • So far so good. Gets the job done. No real complaints
Bought this for work, and it seems sturdy and reliable enough. So far, I haven't had any major complaints with it. Pros: Touchscreen works great. 360 degree hinges that allows for tablet form. Not too heavy (but not the lightest computer in the world either). It's fast enough for basic computer work. Don't recommend any serious gaming. It's got a decent processor (for its type) and it's quad-core instead of dual-core, so the speed is not too shabby. It doesn't take up that much space to set up. Keyboard feels great, although the mouse pad could be a little bit more ergonomic. The price was great when I got it ($252), although now I see it's gone up by $50. Don't think I would buy it for $300. Has all the ports I need--USB, HDMI, etc. So far, the battery's life is great. I can go a whole day at work and it doesn't get too much below 50%. Hope the battery life stays that way. Cons: Only a few complaints, but are rather unimportant. However, these complaints could alter one's overall decision about purchasing this computer and they are why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5: 1: The power button is right on the right side and if you're not careful you can press it and turn the computer to sleep mode accidentally (or shut it down completely if you don't happen to realize in time that you're pressing it). To be honest, it's a real pain, especially if you wanna use it in tablet form. Lenovo really should've put the power button on the upper-left part of the keyboard like with most computers. 2: At least wtih the unit I have, if I turn it on, the pin works. If it goes to sleep mode, and then put in the pin again, it says "error" and asks me to reset the pin. I then have to put in my Microsoft password in the icon below the error message. Dunno if that's a system glitch or not, but at least it's not too bad since the password does the trick and I can get back to where I was. 3: The SD drive works but the SD card sticks out. You can't tuck it in like on most computers. And it's not good to carry around with you sticking out of the drive like that. It's a design flaw in my opinion, but still, a simple flash drive that you can take with you will suffice instead of the SD card. 4: This is advertised coming with a full year of Office 365. When I got Office 365, I saw a message saying it was going to be good until November (I got this unit in June), ssooooo... I don't know if I did something wrong or if I didn't sign up right or if it will actually be good for a whole year or it's only like that with Windows S (I got out of that as soon as I set it up), or what. Have to wait and see I guess. 5: Sometimes when left-clicking on the mouse pad, the system will see it as a right-click, especially if left-clicked near the right-click part. In other words, to ensure left-click, you have to press the left-click far to the left on the pad. Really that's it. So far, no other complaints yet, and quite happy with this. It's definitely what I needed and hopefully, it'll not let me down. Will try to post another review a year from now. Have had this now for about 2 and a half years and still holding strong. About a year ago, it did fall from waist-high height and the left corner landed on a tile floor. A part of the hard plastic chipped on the bottom part of the keyboard, but no internal damage-- it's just esthetics, really. I just put some tape over it for protection. the "3" button started sticking, but I lifted the key and tinkered with it and now it writes. All in all, am still very satisfied with the purchase. I'm glad I bought it when I did because I see that it's gone up a lot in price. ... show more
