Description

Upgrade your food processing routine with a LEM Products 22 BigBite Meat Grinder, a powerful grinder perfect for hunters, food processors, chefs, and culinary enthusiasts who desire to make their own foods. The BigBite technology allows the auger to grab hefty "bites" of meat from the pan and draws them through the large-diameter throat, where the rifled head quickly feeds them through the grinder, providing faster and more efficient grinding. The grinder includes a stainless steel knife, head, auger, large meat pan, coarse and fine plates, stuffing plate, 3 stuffing tubes, and a plastic meat stomper. A storage drawer is located beneath the grinder head for plates and accessories for added convenience. Our Meat Grinder is easy to use and also boasts a noise-dampening design for quieter performance. Whether you're looking to make better quality chilis, burgers, sausages, or even create a raw diet for your pet without unnecessary fillers, this grinder allows you to process a wide range of meats, including beef, pork, lamb, mutton, venison, and deer. The 22 BigBite Grinder can also process raw chicken bones. Our professional-grade grinders are easy to use, easy to clean, and considerably quieter than other electric meat grinders.

  • BEAST!
Style: Grinder Size: #22
This thing is heavy, but it is surprisingly easy to maneuver and carry. I store it in my pantry on a steel shelf. It requires a shelf 24" high and dwarfs my other appliances, including dehydrator and toaster oven. Today, I ground 100# of meat. Preparing the meat to fit into the hopper takes much longer than the actual grinding. If it fits down the chute, the beast handles it just great. No clogs, no slow down, no uneven grind. It ground up chicken leg and thigh bones like they were butter. I preserved beef bottom round and chicken quarters. They were mostly thawed in the refrigerator, having removed them from the freezer days earlier. Initially, I put the blade on backward, and I managed to jam the retaining ring so I was unable to get it off to fix it. My husband had to come and rig up some kind of thing in the shop to loosen it so I could start over. Fortunately, the machine stalled, and no damage was done. Putting it together is simple once you've done it. A little instruction would help. The diagram is nice but not clear enough to really prevent missteps such as the one I made. The you-tube video made it clear, but that was after the fact, in my case. It disassembled easily, and cleaned up nicely. I put a little food grade mineral oil on it and put it back into the pantry until next time. I'm using it for RAW diet dog food, but plan to use it for venison next Fall. Awesome machine. Extremely well made. Very quiet. I also bought the foot pedal, and I am so glad I did. I would have made a greasy mess trying to shut it off again and again. I got a real bargain on it from Amazon ($399.99) for the #22 Big Bite! WOW!!!! UPDATE: 08/28/2026. Been a few years now. My dog eats Farmers Dog now so I only used my LEM for making sausage (bought the sausage stuffer) and canning fruit ( bought the juicer) consisting of tomatoes, apples, and Asian pears. Its still a beast bandits paid to buy the best. ... show more

  • Absolute beast
Style: Grinder Size: #32
I would recommend this lem big bite #32 to anyone that packages they’re own meat/ makes they’re own pet food! It worked amazing and is super fast for making your own hamburger, but I also make my own pet food which could be pretty hard on a meat grinder! This thing will chew up chicken bones as fast as you can throw them in there like it’s nothing. Keep noted that I make tons of dog food at once to store away. It really didn’t have any time to rest while I was doing it and still it didn’t get hot or even sound like it was wearing on the motor. Cleaning was easy as well for the most part. It’s never fun cleaning up stuff like this, but for all the money you save by packaging your own meat I would say it’s worth it. It’s also very well made. Everything seams sturdy and works as advertised and then some! I didn’t expect it to eat up bones so easy! It is pretty expensive but in the long run it will save me tons of money by packaging meat myself. It’s crazy how expensive processed food is compared to buying in bulk and doing it on your own! ... show more

  • A quality meat grinder that’s worth the price.
Style: Grinder Size: #22
Why should you buy this? Or any meat grinder for that matter? I got it because I want to know what’s in my ground meat. I also bought some Brisket/Chuck pre made burger patties at my local supermarket and I thought “Wow, these are really good”. But I really didn’t want to pay that much for a better quality meat all the time. My family eats a lot of hamburger, and brisket per pound is cheaper than ground beef. I just keep my eyes open for sales. Now you know why I wanted a meat grinder, why chose this one? LEM products have a good reputation for quality. And this grinder proves that reputation is well earned. The unit is well made and I think it’s pretty quiet for what it is. I guessing about the same as my kitchen aid mixer. It is heavy. I placed it on a rolling cart and that is where it stays. I think it would be inconvenient to carry around and place on the table or counter for use every time for most people. When I use this meat grinder it chews up partly frozen chunks of beef or pork just as fast as I can feed it in and I’ve not noticed the motor struggling at all doing it. I ground a 20lb Angus brisket that I cut up in to 2”-3” pieces and placed in the freezer for 45 minutes before grinding it in less than 5 minutes using the bigger plate and It easily could have done it faster. A second grind using the smaller plate does take a little longer as I had to use the stomper to push the meat into the auger. Even so start to finish it was less than 20 minutes. Assembly and clean up is really easy. Just wash in hot soapy water. It is dishwasher safe. (Not the motor, of course) I expect this meat grinder will last for decades if it’s cared for and used how I use it. (6-8 times a year.) ... show more

  • Very powerful and quiet meat grinder
Style: Grinder Size: #12
We have used it to process meat from 2 lambs. The motor is powerful and was easily able to grind the meat in just minutes. We have not yet used the sausage stuffing capabilities. For the first lamb cleanup was very time consuming. That is probably due to grinding up a bunch of fat last in preparation for rendering it. It was difficult to clean the grinder head and the plate for making hamburger. It was very difficult to get the fat out of all those little holes, even with a brush for cleaning straws. For the second lamb we remembered something about putting bread through the grinder at the end to help clean it. The second time we started with the fat, then ground the sausage meat, then ground the chili meat, finishing up with bread after grinding with each plate. Cleanup was much easier, but using the straw-cleaning brush was still not ideal because the brush would remove the gunk, but when drawing it back out of the little holes, the brush would re-deposit some of the gunk. My plan for the next lamb is to use pipe cleaners that can be pulled all the way through the little holes. All in all I am delighted with this .75 hp Lem meat grinder. ... show more

  • You want this...maybe...
Style: Grinder Size: #22
Update - Amazing! The auger and feed chute are the perfect combination. Cut your meat into strips and drop it into the chute. No pushing required. It feeds right through. It took me less than 3 minute to grind 5 pounds of meat for the first grind. Second grind took a little longer because I had to push the ground meat into the chute. This thing grinds so fast that the meat was still ice cold after the second grind. No need to go back to the freezer. What you should know. Skip the bones. I bought some veal stew meat and assumed it was boneless. One piece was not and it jammed in the machine. There is no reverse and it took some time to get it out. Just skip the bones you rip be happier for it. Unplugging it is no fun at all! I also absolutely love that the tray is so large - width and depth that I can get ALL of the meat, first and second grind, in it without having to refill. Initial impressions Lem makes several meat grinders differentiated by the plate size. This #22 takes 3 1/4 inch grinding plates. There is also the Big Bite, #12. I debated between the two and decided that I just wanted to own a really tough meat grinder and not have to buy a new $79 one each year. So, the #22 has arrived. It is big, really big. You should know the #12 weighs approximately 38 lbs and the #22 weighs 49.6 lbs. If you are not into storing/carry heavy appliances, the I suggest you go with the #12. #22 is a beast. The grinding plates are as big as my palm and solid! If you have never used a meat grinder before, and to buy this you likely have, there is an instruction manual. It opens to the middle, which is the schematic. It took me a few seconds to get the other pages to open. Just seemed like a think bi-fold document at first. The instructions are straightforward. The same as any other grinder. Cold meat, keep hands out (and yes, this chute is large enough for your hand to fit but there is a lockout that will shut it down), use plunger. The only thing that gives me pause is, there is no "reverse". Simple on and off. I have used reverse only a few times on other grinders and it was handy. However, it is not something I use a lot and if I do get a plug, I suppose taking it apart will work fine. In short, this is my dream meat grinder. Yes, I have meat grinder dreams every time a cheap on breaks I dream of something better. I will be using it this weekend and I will come back to update this review. ... show more

  • Best buy I've made for my at home butcher shop.
Style: Grinder Size: #8
Pretext: I was a butcher for 5 years and have been hunting and processing my own game for over 10 years. I made the step up to this from the standard cheapo Cabelas grinder. Those things suck, I'm sorry if you wasted money on one too but BassPro has a great return policy and they've merged now. Anyway I needed an upgrade and After doing some research and crowd sourcing for something capable but not too big for home use (mind you well over 70% of the reccomendations I got were for Lem Big Bite #8). This thing is great. I processed 3 (illinois) whitetail deer this year and it moves 5x faster than the grinder I had before. I have had absolutely 0 issues or complaints. It comes apart and cleans easily but stays together and sturdy while I'm working. The feed tube is idiot proofed in that I probably couldn't fit my hand in there but its still big enough to work at a steady pace. I could easily get 30lbs double ground in a half hour. No thats not lightning pace but its not bad for something that fits on the kitchen table. I wouldn't recommend keeping it on the kitchen table but it would fit there. I clean my grinder and keep it in the original box under my butchers table. I cant think of any cons or complaints... its kind of expensive but I suppose this is an instance where you really are paying for quality. ... show more

  • Great machine
Style: Grinder Size: #32
First off, we are considered a small scale processor. We do over 100 deer, 50 cattles and 200 hogs a year. The first lem we had was a #12 and it did a great job for 3 years. We used it every day and then it started leaking grease, so we decided to up grade to this big boy. The one we recieved was definitely a return. It had bumps, scratches and dried meat on it. Cleaned it up and gave her a go. It ground 15 lbs of meat in 5 minutes. We did a rough test grind on this batch meaning we intentionally didn't cut out some silver skin to see how good of a grind we got. The grinder was able to remove all sliver skin and left very even grind. See picture for reference. That's beef. The size of the machine is double what our #12 was and the parts are heavy but they are solid. All the pieces are large and dishwasher safe. We put all pieces on the bottom of the dishwasher for sanitation and it works perfectly. This is a great machine for anyone wanting to do their own meat. Great for beginners. We started out as backyard butchers and have slowly evolved into needing a huge machine. The value for the money is on point. This machine is a little more than off name but it's worth the warranty and customer service that comes with the lem brand. ... show more

  • Much better quality over competitors
Style: Grinder Size: #8
Solid meat grinder for home use. I had a Westin #12 (1hp) that failed me. I bought the LEM Big Bite #8 and it puts the Westin to shame. The LEM is built like a tank, makes quick work grinding chuck roast, pork shoulder, etc. also, parts are readily available. Not the case with the Westin as I couldn’t get the part I needed for the Westin. You can tell the difference between the two brands just by weight alone. Solid. ... show more
