This was my first time making sausage and I'll admit the stuffing process made me a bit nervous. After watching a ton of videos online about the process I felt I was ready. This machine was super easy to set up. I love that it comes with the C Clamps to attach to a counter, table, whatever. I had about 6 Lbs of Sausage to stuff, and I would say if you put a full 5 Lbs of sausage in the machine it will squirt out through the top. Just leave about 1" empty at the top. The action from the handle and piston is super smooth and easy to back off when you start going too fast. I only ended up with two blowouts on my sausage casings, but that's from my lack of experience and not a reflection of the stuffer. Clean up was super easy and quick. Getting the piston off the auger was a little tough, but other than that everything was really easy and I'm very satisfied with this machine! I can tell it will last a VERY long time! Would not hesitate to purchase if you're considering a sausage stuffer. ... show more

I love everything about this machine. Good size, extremely easy to use and it makes some sausage! Fast and not much energy needed to get the press operating. most of the material is used, easy to clean. I was using a grinder to make sausage, which was okay but this puts that to shame. Processed 25 lbs of sausage in about 2 days. From start to finish through the grinder. But this beast, start to finish about 3 hours. making the recipe is not that hard, the stuffing was the tedious and time consuming part. This machine changes all of that. Fill it, get the casings (about 5 or 6, way more then the grinder which is nice) on the extra long tube and go to making some sausage. The handle allows it to evenly press sausage into the casing without any energy, the steel gears mesh together smoothly to give you a good experience. The machine worked effortlessly and efficiently. I was amazed on the time it saved me. A true game changer. Just remember to put some vegetable oil on the o-ring and make sure the mixture is not dry and you will not have a problem, even when storing. If you are having problems squeezing the mixture into the tubes, your probably doing something wrong. There are machines made to do certain things that make your life easier. I’m very pleased with this product. I’ve just received it and have just completed my first use. My initial impression is that it is well made of heavy production and very simple to use. I’ve been making homemade sausage for many years and found that the most difficult part of the process was putting the sausage into casings. I had been using my sausage grinder to stuff the casings and this was a tedious,noisy and difficult process. Using the LEM has eliminated all of the difficulties. I recommend getting one if you are interested in making homemade sausage. The only downside was it is a bit expensive, but it will be very useful and easy to use. ... show more

Just had my first experience with this product. In short - I’m AMAZED at how much easier the whole ‘making your own link sausage’ experience was. I looked at nearly all the stuffers available on Amazon, and took pains to look further at manufacturers and sellers. I didn’t land on LEM on a whim; I felt they offered the best infrastructure for products, price, and support. As a home user, I have no need for the larger units, dual gears, or motorized plungers. The 5-LB unit is perfect for my needs. The unit arrived in perfect condition - no shipping damage at all. Cleaning it prior to first use was very easy, though I wish some brushes for the tubes had been included. I REALLY liked that the C-clamps were included, so guess that’s a fair trade-off for lack of cleaning brushes. Setting up for first use was pretty easy, though I learned the hard way that I needed the 21 MM collagen casings to fit over the smallest plastic tube included with my unit. Stuffing the sausages was fast - really fast. The limiting factor during my first use was that you can’t fit a lot of collagen casing over the tube, unlike natural casings, so I had a lot of pauses while I tied off one length of stuffed casing and fitted another on the tube. Cleanup was a snap. I’ll have to purchase some tube brushes, but this time I managed by pushing a wad of soapy paper towel through the tube with a bamboo skewer. All-in-all, a really good product, from a firm with a lot of experience in meat processing and the right tools for the job. ... show more

    • Decent stuffer for the money.

This is a very nice stuffer for the price. It is easy to take apart and clean thoroughly. It is heavy and seems very durable. The encased gears are a real benefit - I get kinda messy when I make sausage. The four holes in the bottom would be great to mount it to a board with bolts, but I just use the two clamps and attach it to my counter top. It stays put very well. The hopper holds 5 lbs of sausage so you can get most recipes done in one load. About 3 ounces of sausage is left in the tube (medium size) when the pusher hits the bottom, which is OK because I like to reward myself with a little fried sausage patty after my efforts, But if you are making very small batches that can represent a significant percentage of your recipe (this is inherent in all sausage stuffers). I would give it five stars except for the following two complaints: The handle attaches with an allen screw (wrench provided), but it comes loose with use and I have had the handle fall off in mid-crank a few times. I can't seem to get it tight enough to stay on for a whole 5 lbs of sausage making. Also, it would be nice if the manufacturer would smooth the excess plastic off the ends of the tubes before shipping - if you don't do it your casings will tear as you load them. ... show more
