It was commissioned in 1631 by the Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, the Empress Mumtaz Mahal. This relaunched 2008 LEGO interpretation features the structure’s 4 facades with sweeping arches, balconies and arched windows. The central dome, subsidiary domed chambers and surrounding minarets are topped with decorative finials, and the raised platform is lined with recessed arches. I got this massive lego set for my 4 boys and myself to do together. We absolutely loved working on it! It became a family project where when each of us had time we'd go do a packet. Between work and school, our schedules are quite hectic so the project took about 1.5 months to complete but that was solely due to our slow pace no to mention the 2 year old lost a couple lego pieces which were found a week later. My wife received this lego set for Christmas and has been looking forward to putting it together for a few weeks now. Finally a week ago she started on it. Was so thrilled to see the Taj Mahal come back as a Lego set. Bought this for my son’s 11th birthday. He put it together in 2 days flat, all on his own! He loves it, I love it and everyone that comes home loves it!

the likeness is uncanny. this model is very impressive. however, i bought it while in a nostalgic mindset wanting a grand lego puzzle. well, this thing when finished is massive. what am i going to do with it now?

It is a really good product I got it for my nine-year-old’s birthday he loved it he also builds Legos a lot so it was the perfect gift it was 16+ years but my son builds really advanced Legos so I decided to get it for him he also really wanted it and overall it is a really good product

    • Zero Quality Control - Missing Several Pieces
We were very excited to purchase this item. We saved up for it. When we began building it, there were more than 10 pieces missing. We could not believe it. This was to be our "quarantine" distraction. Instead, it added to the misery. Sad day, especially because we really held LEGO in high regard.

For $691 I would have thought I was receiving a new product but the box had been opened and taped back shut. As of now, I can't know if all the pieces are even there. Some of the bags had been opened but I won't know if there are missing pieces until we get to bags 10 and 14. I bought this for my high school students to de-stress with during finals so it's too late to return it. ... show more
