They're serious about the number of pieces but the directions are complete. My grandson loves LEGOs and this set is by far his favorite. Once it's put together it is pretty solid, and easy to repair if something falls out of place. The accessory vehicles, the people, it's all just great. Hours of play fun. Grandson is just 4 but he has excellent eye hand coordination and small motor skills for a child his age. I helped with the plane but he had an easy time with the little vehicles. Probably more suitable for most 6 year olds who do lots of LEGO play, unless you're willing to work on the set together, which we were. Love this toy. ... show more

I was skeptical about spending this much money on this Lego set but my little one loves Legos and specifically asked for a plane set for his birthday. I’ve watched him put this together for hours…. it’s so cool watching his little mind work. I might have a future engineer on my hands here. LEGO vehicles have three important play qualities. First, is the build itself. It should be creative and fun, not repetitive or unclear. Second, is the play value of whatever it is you are making. There should be a reason that it is made out of LEGOs and not just manufactured as a toy. Lastly, is the stay factor. Does it stay together well enough that you can play with it as opposed to a model which is too fragile to withstand imaginative play? This LEGO City Passenger Airplane is 5 out of 5 stars on all three. It was fun to build. It's great to be able to modify and change things around once built, and it stays together so it can be played with instead of simply displayed. I would be happy to give it as a gift. And if we mistakenly received a second one...we'd think twice about returning it b/c of how much fun it was to put together the first time. ... show more

Cool set. However; it should be nice if the manufacture include minority people as crew members and or passengers in the set(s) I haven't seen a lego colored pilot(S). This is not an insult...it just a matter of ethics . Peace.
